i've been waiting for a sign...

Is it really Friday already? I feel like the week just started.

I went for comfortable today, which of course means the pull-on pants of greatness. I actually wore these pants once already this week, but it was on the day that I didn't get a picture and I'm pretty sure no one in my office notices when I wear the same pants more than once in a week.

lucky denver mint (jimmy eat world)

I figure this is the last time I'll be able to get away with bare legs for the season. It's supposed to go up to 72 Saturday! I'm very excited to start wearing my tights though. I bought some at the end of last season and I still haven't figured out which outfit I want to wear with them first :)

The first time I saw this dress it was on a department store's website (rhymes with Stacy's if you're interested). I pondered over it, then it went on sale, I pondered some more, but finally decided it was still too much to spend on a dress when I already own many dresses that don't get worn enough. About a week ago my love for the dress was renewed when I saw it on ebay, this time with a price I could handle. I love the way it stretches, and the color is beautiful. Also, I've gotten a lot of compliments on it today, which is quite encouraging.

And you know what makes this dress really rock? Pockets!! Seriously, I love me a dress with pockets. I wanted to wear boots with this dress but I couldn't get myself to put on the only pair of black zip-up boots that I have (which tore a hole in my heel the last time I wore them). I wasn't in the mood to put on 5 bandaids, two boot socks, and some extra moleskin. So you get my snakeskin flats, which go quite nicely with my fancy belt I've been dying to wear.

kick start your heart...(funeral for a friend)

So readers, do you ever pick out a piece of an outfit and decide that you're going to use that piece, regardless of how many things you unsuccessfully pair it with? Well, that was me last night with this top. It's another "rediscovered" item from my great closet clean out, and I swear I tried on at least 10 different combinations before settling on what you're looking at. Whenever I wear this shirt (which has been maybe 4 times) I want to pair it with khaki pants because I normally don't put black and brown together. The fact that the black top has khaki detailing throughout makes me alright with the black/brown combo. Silly, I know.

I actually haven't worn these pants yet either. I had them in my "beg mom to hem when visiting" pile and I realized that they would probably be a good length with my wonderful black boots that I talked too much about last week.

everybody's alright, everything is automatic (matthew good)

I can't believe yet another weekend has gone by and it's almost month 11 of the year. Then again I'm still barely getting used to saying it's 2009.

This weekend was quite productive. I think it's the first weekend I've actually gotten everything done that I set out to do. The bathroom got cleaned (with a little of D's help, thanks again!), I cleaned and rearranged the front bedroom (no more shoe tower!), and I went through my entire closet and took out everything that doesn't fit. I also rediscovered some tops that I often overlook, so I decided to wear one today.

I found these Frye shoes for 80% off at DSW last year. They were exactly what I had been looking for (meaning flat brown shoes with a nice toe) and they're incredibly comfortable. Little did I know how much I would come to like Frye's brand of shoes. I actually bought 2 more pairs in black (and they weren't 80% off, but still on sale at the time) because I enjoyed them so much. I've almost worn one of the black pairs out :) I haven't been able to find these exact shoes online very often (sometimes they're on ebay), but I did read that this version of the shoe (called Clementine) was some sort of tester shoe, and it didn't get made into mass production. That figures, doesn't it? I still wonder how DSW got ahold of a few pairs.

wait and's all in how you disappear...(matthew good)

You all get an early update this morning because I'm in meetings for the rest of the day. :)

I've had this dress for a few months now, and I've never been sure how to wear it. It was on super clearance, and I loved the pattern, so I was more apt to buy it and then donate it if it didn't work out. It came with a belt, but the way the loops were positioned made the belt hit me right at the widest part of my hips. I tried it on with black leggings and my amazing gray suede boots last night, but I felt like it looked a little to young, even for a Friday casual workday. And for the record, I do think the outfit looks much better in person.

it's hard to find a friend...also, this post is very long and full of links.

I will get to my oh so exciting outfit, but first I need to talk about my shoes. If you knew me in person, you would know that I could talk about shoes for a while. So, last night I had a very, possibly too successful trip to DSW with a friend of mine. I went in armed with a return, a coupon, and a $10 certificate, and I came out with two beautiful pairs of boots.

Here is the first pair. First you should know that I have these in a wine color too. I bought them the last time I was at this particular DSW but I haven't actually worn them yet. Have you ever bought something that you loved so much you were afraid to wear it? No? Ok, I'm crazy. But the current boots-what's so special about a pair of black boots? Well, hands down they are the most comfortable boots I have ever owned. I love everything about them; the less than 3" heel, the almond toe, the way they perfectly cradle my feet....*sigh* I was actually looking around online for other colors yesterday, only to find that even if my size were in stock they were way too expensive. So here's the great part. Not only did DSW still have them, they only had 2 black pairs, and one was in my size. And, they were selling for way less than what I found on other websites. Not to mention, I had a coupon for 30% off a regularly priced pair of shoes, which I used, and then I had my return merchandise credit. Add my $10 certificate and I was sold! For some reason, even though I love them as much as the wine colored ones, I was ok wearing them today. And I will wear the other ones soon!

So everything was going well, but then I ruined my budget shopping with these. In an effort to defend my way too expensive shoe purchase, they were a) on sale, and b) the perfect gray boots that I've been looking for. You see, I've been hunting for gray boots for about a year now, and I've pondered over these, I've bought and returned these (which I loved but I couldn't do the heel height and they really were more brown than gray even if I wanted to debate the website with their tan description), and I was about to give up when I laid eyes on these suede beauties. As an aside, I didn't even know I like suede. But apparently it spoke to me through these shoes. And I lovelovelove the heel. It's chunky, which makes me feel more stable, and I plan on carrying around 2 plastic bags in my purse whenever I wear these just in case it decides to rain/snow/someone throws a water bucket at me. Lastly, don't be fooled by what they're calling gray on the DSW website. It's actually a true beautiful gray, no brown in it.

Yesterday was also a great day because my gorgeous jewelry from Bijoutiful finally arrived. D bought me a gift card from her store for our anniversary back in July and I was finally able to decide on what I wanted.

And, I'm not going to lie. You all know I love Erin's blog. She showed off a great set of bracelets from an etsy seller, and I ordered them last month. I love how you can wear as many as you feel like putting on.

I'm going to quit boring you right after I mention that these are another pair of those amazing pull-on pants I wore earlier this week. I will own them in every color!

she's gone country!

I don't often feel countryish, but I do today. I hope it's just in my head.

I bought this dress from HSN a while back (this is my first time wearing it), and I was persuaded that it would look good on me because they had a plus size woman in the product video, and she looked banging hot in the dress. :) See exhibit A. I think I might try a thicker belt next time. I'm hesitant to put a cardigan or sweater over it because the puff sleeves are so cute and the dress is sort of heavy and structured. Any suggestions?

These boots marked my first purchase from 6pm. Little did I know how addicted I would become. I am currently waiting for these (in red and gray) to come in the mail. Don't worry, I already have the black ones. They're so comfortable I had to get the other colors. The only thing I don't like about Clarks is that I have to size up. But it's worth it. :)

every end has a start (the editors)

Hey all,

Sorry I missed out on yesterday. I was home sick.

I had a great outfit picked out too. And guess what? It wasn't this one. When I thought I would wear it today I just didn't feel like putting on a dress and boots.

So I guess I'm on a pants kick. I've gained a few pounds over the past couple of months and whenever I would try something on for an outfit (pants-wise) I would get incredibly depressed because they just didn't fit and I'd feel like I couldn't breathe. So as you can tell from my past posts, I've found some great pants at Kohls. Well, now I found another great pair from NY & Co. So let me tell you a story. About 2 years ago I bought some knit dress pants from NY& Co, and I loved them to death. I wore them so much that I created a tear where the tab pulled closed, and the zipper quit zipping (the zipper and closure were more for show I think, because you could pull them on, but I still wore them out). It seems that NY & Co has brought a version of these pants back to us. They're calling them the York Avenue pants, and they're a stiffer fabric, but I love them. Plus, the particular pair I have on today is charcoal gray, which I have been looking for everywhere (now I just need to find a khaki gray color) and I can't tell you how comfortable they are. Not to mention-there isn't a tab closure or a zipper. You just pull them on and you're set! Plus, they have a wide waistband, which I seem to have a harder time finding, and I love the way I feel in them.

So, new pants, old sweater, and I'm feeling alright today.

how are things on the west coast? (interpol)

I've been looking for a dark brown jacket for fall, and I think I found one that works for me at a place I would normally overlook-American Eagle Outfitters. And it was on clearance as well! I used to swear by their jeans about 3 years ago but in the past year or two I've found their cuts impossibly low and extremely unflattering on someone with curves. I still have one pair of jeans from them that I can wear on a very good day, but I haven't had one of those days in a while :) Speaking of jeans, I completely forgot I owned the particular pair I have on today. I was going through my closet last night and I was going to ignore these because the tag said they were "tall" and I wanted to wear flats. Then I remembered that my wonderful amazing mom hemmed these about 3 inches for me just so I could wear flats with them. And they're stretchy!

I got a couple of crazy looks at my feet this morning while walking into work. (note-it's in the 50's and raining up here). I wanted to show them the huge crater of a blister on my heel but decided they wouldn't understand (mostly because it was 2 men and I haven't heard many men complain about getting blisters). I did try to put on a pair of flats this morning but I just couldn't stand the shoe rubbing the blister (even through 3 bandaids and a cut-out moleskin). So I'll be hiding in my office for most of the day today.

Tonight I have a friend coming over and we're going to list some stuff on ebay. Wish me luck :) Until Monday...

it's only 4pm!

I stood in front of my closet last night, completely unsatisfied with the outfit I came up with. But I kept what I had because I was too tired to change it. Then I woke up this morning and changed it. Surprise surprise. One thing that's not changing any time soon would be the shoes. I have a killer blister on the back of my foot and these seem to be the only ones that don't rub it the wrong way. :(

is this what we were meant for? (saosin)

So I got home a little early today and I decided to take my own pictures so I could go ahead and change into pajamas and veg out. lIt's been a rough day.

The top and pants were both bought while I was in Wisconsin. I loved the pattern on the top and it's very soft and silky feeling. I actually signed up for a Kohl's credit card so I could save the extra 15%. I don't remember the last time I signed up for a credit card. Wait, yes I do. Ann Taylor Loft denied me because I used my MD address instead of my old address in FL (where all my bills currently go to even though I pay them). Moving right along...

I adore this ring. I actually have two of them in two different sizes. When I was in Ocean City I bought one for my ring finger (at the QVC outlet) and I loved it so much I decided I wanted to get one for my middle finger. At $28 (originally over $100, supposedly) I decided it was a steal. So, I got the second one on ebay for the same price. :)

empty's theme park (matthew good)

I'm so exhausted today I can barely keep my eyes open. We woke up extra early to take my car by the shop (again) and I just can't seem to get myself to be more awake.

These are some new pants that I got at Kohl's (online) before I left for Milwaukee. I've been looking for a pair of patterned trousers to replace the ones that I used to wear (they don't fit anymore). It's rare that I find pants that are a good length, and these fit what I was looking for.

Sorry for my lack of posting last week. I was in Milwaukee for work. I did manage to take pictures each day (except Friday when we flew back) so today's post will be a little larger than normal.

We were expected to wear a suit, so I brought one suit jacket, one pair of black pants, and one pair of shoes (so I'll only point them out in the first picture). I bought another pair of black dress pants at Kohl's while we were there, so I wore those on the last day of presenting.

Thursday my 2 other coworkers and I went to get haircuts, although I'm not sure you can tell a difference :)

I can't wait to catch up on everyone's blog. I've missed reading them :)

the vancouver national anthem...(matthew good)

I can't believe another week has already gone by. I'm also in shock that I leave for Milwaukee on Monday. So not prepared...I'm in meetings for the rest of the day so it's not like I can get much more done anyway. Plus, updating this blog is of super importance :)

I managed to go out and get a pedicure last night. I love the color and it's really made me feel a lot better for some reason. I'm still debating getting a haircut before I leave.

fought to fight it..(matthew good)

When I first listened to this song (fought to fight it from matt good) I thought he was saying "fortified it". Go figure.

My top today is more of a sweater, which I pulled out of my winter boxes in the basement. D and I finally got the bed frame together (now extra strong with wood planks!) so I think I'm going to store more of my seasonal clothing and shoes underneath since we have some extra room.

I bought the ring at a Charlotte Russe (part of the outlets) in September. It's huge and chunky and my favorite-turquoise. Best of all, it was $4! Urban Outfitters had the same exact ring on sale for $14.99 or something, and I was all smug when I saw that.

This necklace is a gift from my aunt. She's a Lia Sophia consultant (which is how I got into looking for them on ebay) and she was nice enough to give it to me as a present 2 years ago.
