I forgot my camera at the office last night so I had to take a pic in the field room. Hopefully no one was looking :)

I didn't get a good picture of my shoes, so here you go. They're surprisingly comfortable.

I'm on the fence about this outfit being work appropriate. I feel like it shows too much cleavage. Although with my chest, most things look cleavage-filled. I still can't decide if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

My lunch outting yesterday was very nice. Hopefully we'll go out again. :)

Tonight we're having an early birthday dinner for my grandmother (she's turning 90!!) and hopefully I'll get to relax this weekend.

Thursday, July 30, 3009

Nothing too exciting to wear today. My back is feeling a little bit better, and I'm meeting a new person for lunch today. I put up an ad on craigslist in an effort to make a few friends in the area, and this lunch is happening because of the ad. I'm trying not to be too nervous. :)

In the meantime Old Navy and all of the affiliates are having their 30% off sale and I'm trying not to buy anything. Keyword: trying.

Also, these gray pants have been lovingly hemmed by my mom. She's hemming 4 inches off a dress for me today (on her vacation, no less!) I have such a great mom.

Here's a story about the bag, which was almost free. I placed an order online at a major retailer. Well, I went to return two pairs of pants out of the order (and keep the rest). A few things got messed up, and the woman ended up returning my whole order instead of just the pants. And before you tell me I'm a bad person for not going back and pointing it out to them (I was already home when I realized what had happened) I don't want to hear it. I thought about what to do for at least a week, and I decided that in the end I would not tell them about the error because I still paid about $40 for S+H, and I rationalized that the screwup was not going to cause them to go under. If it were a mom & pop store, or someone on etsy, I would have told them immediately. But the retailer and I aren't exactly besties, so it was my choice not to clue them in. Now hopefully they won't read this blog. :)

Wednesday, July 29, 2009

I'm sorry for my lapse in writing. I didn't do anything exciting over the weekend and then Monday when I woke up I had severe back pain so I stayed in bed the whole day. I'm new to this whole "back pain" thing and man does it suck. I'm only 26! Then Tuesday I went into work and had on a great outfit, but I wasn't able to get a picture of it.

So today I had a whole different outfit picked out but I decided I wanted to be as comfortable as possible so I went for all knit fabrics. I'm not thrilled with how it turned out (since I don't normally change what I'm wearing in the morning; I do it the night before) but I am definitely comfortable.

Also, that black cutout was laundry. Not haunted laundry though. Oh Dane Cook, how you have changed...

This is the first time I've worn these shoes. I went to 3 DSWs looking for them (and I even had my friend look in a VA one for me). They're called "Wenndy" (yes, 2 n's) from Steve Madden. The thing is, according to the internet, they don't exist. I think DSW gets shoes in and then changes the style name so if you want to try and find them elsewhere you can't. For instance, I have silver flower flip flops from Guess. Well, they were called one thing at the DSW, and then I found them online under a different style name. It's annoying! But back to the shoes at hand. They're a silver snakeskin pattern and I love them. Steve Madden runs small (I usually wear an 8.5 and I have to wear a 9 or 9.5 with SM) and I reeeaaaalllly wanted these flats, so I'm happy the last DSW I went to had one pair in my size. Of course they're not on DSW's site either.

Update: Of course they're on the website now. Here you go.

My ring is a QVC outlet purchase. That has a story too (of course!) So D and I were in Rehoboth until Sunday, and QVC was going to have a huge sale starting Wednesday. So my mom told me to pick out anything I wanted and she would go back for me and get it for me (assuming they didn't sell out of what I wanted). So, I picked out 2 rings and a pair of sandals. Originally, the ring that I have on was $130 (because it's platinum and 18K gold). My mom went back and got it for an extra 60% off. Granted that's still around $60, but I love it's simplicity and I can wear it with gold or silver. So far I've worn it almost every day. I'll tell you about the sandals and the 2nd ring another day :)

This outfit was inspired by this look of Erin's. That girl can seriously do no wrong. I'll try to quit mentioning her blog now. :)

Anyway, I must be feeling coral this week since I've worn it twice and I only own 3 items of the coral variety.

Nothing much to report today. I'm trying to hide my peeling forehead as much as possible.

My jewelry picks for today are from the now defunct website I mentioned a little while ago, Marc & Pearl. I've never worn the earrings before because I think of them as being dressier than what I normally wear but this morning I figured what's the point of having them if I don't wear them?

The pants are also newish. I have a very hard time finding pants that are the right length for flats. Old Navy used to have great pants and I would order them in the "long" (not "tall", those things are 2 feet too long on me!) size, and they would sweep the top of my feet perfectly in flats. Now they've gone and changed the cut, and the long is too long and the regular length is usually too short. But these are the regular length, and as long as I never put them in the dryer I should be safe. Also, I have the same pants 2 sizes down that I've had for years and they still fit, but I couldn't fit into that size today if I ordered them. Go figure.

I adore these shoes. I had a hard time choosing (what to wear) between a pair of silver flats and these, but I went for these because they're so incredibly comfortable. I got the same pair at the Nine West outlet in NJ back in May on super clearance, and when I was at the DE outlets they had 1 pair left in my size so I decided to get a second pair. Seriously, when I like something I have no problems buying multiples, and at $20 for Nine West it's an easy decision.

Teal lace top: Kohl's ($20, March 2009)
Black pants: Old Navy (2009)
Jewelry: Marc & Pearl (each piece was under $30, December 2008)

I think today's outfit is one that doesn't photograph well. Or maybe I'm in denial. But I love pairing turquoise and coral....I originally planned to wear a dark denim button-down shirt (I think of it as a jacket) over the dress but I was afraid that the color would rub off on the dress since I haven't washed it yet.

Click here for a closeup of the shoes. They make a lot of noise when I'm walking down the hall at work. I guess I should keep that in mind when I go to wear them next time. I still can't believe what a great knock-off they are of these. I know they aren't the most flattering style of shoes to wear with anything that shows your legs, but I still like them.

The necklace is another one of my $5 finds at the Liz Claiborne outlet. Stacy London keeps going through my head (it doesn't have to match, it can just go)...D called this my "wizard" necklace. I'm trying to forget that. :)

Last but not least, the bag. I love it. I'm trying to ignore the fact that QVC has them in many other colors. Also, it's driving me mad that the bag, shoes, and belt are all different shades of brown (well, beige can be in the brown family, right?) I have problems.

Blue cardigan: Target (June, 2009)
Coral dress: Old Navy
Cream tank: Target (bought during college)
Brown belt: NY & Co (June, 2009)

My bling necklace

Sunburned feet: I told you I can't resist shoes with flowers...

The beach trip was fantastic! It went much better than I thought it would. There were hardly any fights, I found some great things at the outlets (more on that in a second), and I managed to get sunburned even though I was only at the beach for a total of 3 hours with 3 applications of sunblock. :) Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of what I wore while on vacation. So here's what I'm in today:

Purple top: Old Navy Outlet ($9, July 2009)
Yellow tank: Old Navy
Brown pants: Old Navy
Shoes: Penny Loves Kenny via T.J. Maxx ($24.99, July 2009)
Purple necklace: Liz Claiborne Outlet ($4.99!, July 2009)

So about those outlets... I got this shirt in 2 other colors (black, of course, and a beautiful blue/green color) because everything in the Old Navy store was an extra 40% off. They are so soft and comfortable! This necklace is something I'm not so sure about. D calls it my Flava Flav necklace (did I spell that right?) But at $4.99, I don't care! I got a bunch of jewerly at the Liz Claiborne outlet because they had a whole rack of $4.99 goodies. The rest of the jewelry isn't nearly as...big...I also got a ton of stuff at the Gap (I hated the Gap before, now I find great stuff from them; go figure) and I'm in love with the QVC outlet. In fact, my favorite purchase came from the QVC outlet. It's a bag from B. Makowsky, and let me tell you about this bag. Ok, so go back to christmastime in Florida this past year, and I'm hanging out with my friend. She has this beautiful supple amazing lovely leather bag that I can't stop staring at, from some brand I had never heard of. She said her sister bought it from a street vendor in Miami, and ended up just giving it to her. She told me to look online for "B. Makowsky" to see if I can find one. So I got home and looked, and they are so expensive!!! I have since bid on quite a few on ebay and I have always lost because I'm not willing to pay $150+ for a bag. So imagine my surprise when I walked into the QVC outlet and saw the very same B. Makowsky bag at an extra 40% off. I grabbed it and ran off to the register to gladly give them my $110. Now, you may not think that $110 is a great price, but considering what I've seen them go for on ebay (not including shipping) I'm quite content. And soon you will see it in all it's glory. :)

So I feel very matchy matchy in today's outfit. Also, I can't decide if I want to keep these khakis or not. They were a great price, but I just feel very boyish and big in them.

But you know what I'm totally keeping forever? These shoes. I adore them (and many others, but these right now, yes)...I got them when SmartBargains was offering an extra 20% for paypal users, and I may have gotten the other color (brown/coral).. Besides, how can you say no to a shoe named "Jungle Fever"? The only downside is my suspicion that they're going to get dirty very easily. And they are so very comfortable! Those bandaids are from yesterday's uncomfy shoes. I thought they made an attractive accessory (I forgot they were there).

Outfit details:
Navy top: Target ($6, July 2009)
White tank: Old Navy ($5, April 2009)
Khakis: Gap Outlet ($15, May 2009)
Jungle Fever Shoes: Poetic License via SmartBargains ($31.99, June 2009)

My mom arrived last night, and a certain Katy cat is very excited, as you can see above. Tomorrow morning they're leaving for Rehoboth Beach in DE, and I'll be following them up with D after work tomorrow. I may not make it to the beach, and you have less of a chance seeing a pic of me in a bathing suit, but I'll see what else I can come up with.

Lastly, Erin over at Work With What You've Got is offering a great giveaway from her etsy shop. I have to say I'm eyeing quite a few things in there...So go check it out!

Friday Night -- Today

Good morning everyone,

So I did change my outfit Friday night, and I actually took pictures each day this weekend. So here's your large update for today:

I got this dress in the mail on Friday, and decided I had to wear it immediately.
Brown cardigan: Ann Taylor Loft
Dress: Lane Bryant via Ebay
Same jewelry as I had on during the day on Friday

We went out to a bar on Saturday and I decided to be casual. I haven't worn this tank top in over a year so I figured now would be a great time to break it out. The shoes I have on are the sames ones that I purchased in silver.
Black cardigan: Target ($8, May 2009)
Flower tank top: Ann Taylor Loft (2007)
Jeans: Ann Taylor Loft
Flower Shoes: Guess via Amazon ($29, July 2009)
Silver necklace and earrings: Lia Sophia via Ebay

I couldn't resist including this one because Katy cat decided to jump in.

We all went out to eat on Sunday and so I wanted to get a picture. The dress is from Lane Bryant, and I have buyer's remorse over it. Mostly because I bought it right off of the mannequin since it had sold out online already, and it was full price. Expensive full price. We're talking over $80. But I love it. It's the perfect length, and I want to go swimming in the colors. Seriously. So I'm getting over my buyer's remorse. Slowly....
Dress: Lane Bryant (too much, June 2009)
Blue tank: Old Navy ($5)
Shoes: Target ($15)
Necklace and earrings: Urban Accents in Milwaukee

My grandmother had no idea what she was wearing, but she was comfortable. :)

And this is what I'm wearing right now. I think I've decided that Forever 21's plus size line, Faith 21, is not for me. I've bought two shirts (including this one) and I'm not a huge fan. I feel like they just don't know how to cut shirts for us plus-sized gals.
Floral shirt: Faith 21 (June 2009)
Black tank: NY & Co (2008)
Black pants: Ann Taylor Loft
Black slides: Chadwicks
Gold necklace: Liz Claiborne Outlet ($7! May 2009)

Added note-I try to put prices along with dates for my clothes, but I'm losing track of the dates and amounts. So if something is truly cheap/expensive/memorable, or I remember the price/date, I will put it. If not, I'll put as much information as I can recall.

Friday, July 10, 2009

Tonight some of D's family will be visiting so we're going out to one of our favorite local restaurants. I don't know if I'll wear what I wore to work, but we'll see.

My work ensemble:
Shirt and jeans: Ann Taylor Loft (I don't remember the price or the date)
Yellow tank top: Old Navy ($5? 2009)
Sandals: Blowfish via Ebay ($5!!! Well, $10 including shipping but they're the current style!)
Tree necklace that you can't see: Gifted
Rings you also can't see: Etsy

If I don't post on the weekend I hope everyone has a lovely one!

Thursday, July 9, 2009

Sorry about the 2 day lapse in pictures. I worked from home on Tues. and Wed. because of everything that happened this weekend. I guess I just needed to pull myself together. Perhaps I needed another day, because I feel horrible in this outfit. The waistband of the skirt seems to make the shirt stick out and I feel rather large and frumpy in it. It's just too hot to wear spanx under everything...I do like the colors though, and the shoes are great.

I'm also being a downer as of late because I feel like I emailed quite a few fellow fashion bloggers that I greatly admire, and only a couple got back to me. But don't get me wrong, if you're reading this I greatly greatly appreciate it, since this blog is very much in it's infancy. I just thought that in 2 weeks I would hear back from a few more people.

The necklace is from etsy, and I love it. I have become rather fascinated with mosaic turquoise, so I now have earrings, this necklace, and a matching bracelet using the stone/bead. But don't worry-I don't wear them all at the same time.

Everything but the shoes and jewelry: Old Navy
Shoes: GoJane.com (I have a new addiction to this site)
Necklace: Etsy (the seller is RedChair)

Saturday, July 4 and Monday, July 6, 2009

Well readers, it has been a very rough weekend. I visited a pregnant coworker in the hospital on Friday, went to a funeral on Saturday, and visited a psych ward on Sunday for an ill friend. Needless to say, I did not take pictures of my clothing because I was rather preoccupied.

I did however, get a picture of what I wore out Saturday night on a spontaneous trip to a couple of bars. I love these shoes! I'm a sucker for this whole flower trend. Also, this dress/skirt looks black, but I promise it's navy in person.

Silver striped top: Ann Taylor Loft ($20, 2008)
Navy dress worn as a skirt: Old Navy ($15, May 2009)
Black belt: NY & Co ($14, June 2009)
Silver rose flip flops: Guess via DSW ($17, June 2009)
Silver necklace: Ann Taylor Loft ($14, May 2009)
Bracelet: Lia Sophia via Ebay: (price unknown, 2008?)

For today's picture we have a very special guest-my grandmother! It's rare that we're all dressed at the same time in the morning, so she requested that I take her picture for the blog. It's funny because my grandmother always says "cheese" while someone is taking the picture, and I think you can tell that she was in the midst of saying cheese here.
On Gammy:
Shirt and shorts: Alfred Dunner
Shoes: unknown

On me:
Red Cardigan: NY & Co ($8, April 2009)
Headband, necklace, shirt, jeans (I was an ATL addict): Ann Taylor Loft (all old with prices forgotten)
Shoes: Chadwicks ($10, 2007)

Thursday, July 2, 2009

I didn't realize we have tomorrow off until quite recently, and that makes me happy. Here's my boring outfit for the day:

Top: Ann Taylor Loft (ages ago, price unknown)
Jeans (I love the Long & Lean ones): Gap Outlet ($40, May 2009)
Silver sandals: Target ($15?, 2008)
Silver charm necklace: Ann Taylor Loft ($15, May 2009)

You may get a bonus picture tonight because I'm going out to dinner with a friend and I doubt I'm going to stay in this outfit. But we shall see. Hope everyone has a lovely holiday weekend!

Wednesday, July 1, 2009

So here is number 2 of 3 in my same-cardigan collection. I actually haven't worn the last one I have before.

I love these shoes. They are a bit uncomfortable, but this was my first time wearing them so hopefully they'll work out.

Creme cardigan: Target ($7.49, May 2009)
Coral dress: Old Navy ($15; June 2009)
Black tank: NY & Co ($10; 2009)
Black belt: NY & Co ($15; June 2009)
Black and creme patterned shoes: Moda via DSW ($25; June 2009)
Necklace: Ann Taylor Loft (I don't remember how much it was and I got it ages ago)
