a silent army in the trees (matthew good)

This shirt is another one of my most recent outlet buys. It's incredibly soft and comfortable, and I've been wanting a shirt with a foldover neck. I will admit I spent way too much money in Ann Taylor's outlet store. It's odd because their regular stores (including The Loft) stopped carrying the upper size ranges in-store (I think they go up to a 14 now, and if they have stocks of XL it's probably one one or two items) but I had no problem finding all sizes at the outlet. Not to mention I normally don't have very much luck at the AT outlet.

I actually didn't realize that almost my whole outfit is Ann Taylored. Also, today is the first day I've worn boots this season, so I can now officially say goodbye to summer (yay!) I chose these boots because I consider them to be the first pair of business boots that I bought once I willingly became a corporate drone, and I have worn out the tips more than once on them.

I decided to include a pic of D today because this is one of my favorite outfits on him. The pants have a great pattern, and his shirt has a different pattern that I think mixes well.

volcanoes...(matthew good)

This has nothing to do with the blog, but I'm so excited because we finally got a bed frame!! So tonight we won't be sleeping in the floor. So happy :)

Now back to the somewhat boring outfit. I was going to wear a dress today but it felt a bit chilly when I woke up this morning so this is what I ended up with.

Shirt: Target ($7, July 2009)
Tank: Target (2004 or 2005)
Pants: Old Navy ($25, 2009)

On Nights Like Tonight (matthew good)

So can I tell you all a secret? I have this shirt in 4 other colors. :) I wore today's color because I really wanted to wear this new jewelry. I got the necklace about a month or two ago but I find the length sort of awkward and the colors aren't the easiest to match to. And these earrings, oh how I love them! 50 cents at Salvation Army. We went in looking for a bed frame and I walked out with a cd from the appleseed cast and griffin bird earrings. :)

Sweater: Gap Outlet ($25ish, September 2009)
Black pants: Old Navy (2008)
Bronze shoes: Steve Madden via DSW ($30? August 2009)

Us Remains Impossible (matthew good)

So we went to the car shop yesterday to pick up my problem car, only to find out there weren't any problems with it. It's still making a noise that it didn't used to make, but the mechanic thought it was just normal wear and tear. I'm relieved, but I'm still concerned as well.

Work has been crazy as of late. I'm on too many projects, I still haven't written my review, and we're going to Milwaukee in less than 2 weeks. Updating this blog is definitely a calming activity for me :)

I tried to do a silly pose for you all, but I think I just look like I'm swimming through a sea of nothing. :)

If you can't tell, I picked out my clothing this morning. Nothing special. I didn't think these jeans would fit but they do, so I'm happy. I've never worn them before (I have a lot of clothes) and I'm really liking how they're holding up towards the end of the day.

Black top: Old Navy (2009)
Purple tank: Old Navy (2009)

Great Whales of the Sea (matthew good)

I feel like my title. Groan, I know.

This top is one that I got on my recent trip to the outlets via Ocean City. I bought another one with blue colors and I love the way it drapes. I thought I could get away without wearing a tank top under it but I was mistaken.

the boy who could explode (matthew good)

The week has hardly begun and I'm already super stressed. Work problems, friend problems, car problems. Just give me one at a time already! Anyway, yesterday was car problem with a dash of work problem day so no picture.

This is my first time wearing this shirt, which I have in 4 colors (groan, I know). I saw it on the ATL website and thought that there was no way I'd pay $36.50 for it, and then it went on a special for $14.50 and I'm so glad I got them. It's amusing to me because now it's at some "real value" special for $24.50 and I'm all "that's no value!" but then again, maybe some people missed the special. I'd say it was a big hit because there are only a couple colors left and very few sizes. I wish I had bought it in black, even though I'm trying to stick with more colorful pieces.

Also, the flash totally made it see through. I've been trying to decide if I should post it for all of the interweb to see, and clearly I decided to. But I promise it does not look like that in person, unless I enter a flashbulb ceremony or something. Which I won't.

These pants are a ponte knit and I've worn them many times, but I love how they stretch and feel so nice. They are a little heavier than regular knit pants, but they're definitely more comfortable. I wish Old Navy would have made them in more colors. Also, these are "long" pants, and I can wear flats with them. I can't do that with their current selection of "long" pants. Grrrrr.

The marcasite ring (and the earrings that you can't really see) are some of my pieces from the Marc & Pearl line. My mom loved the ring so much we got it for her for as a christmas gift last year. I loved it so much I bought it a size smaller to wear on my ring finger. Then I lost it. I have no idea where it is and it drives me nuts! The white diamond ring was a great christmas gift from D last year, and the black diamond ring was a splurge I made back in 2007. Lastly, the bracelet. I love it because everyone compliments it and thinks it's real. It's not; it's Lia Sophia and I spent months hunting it down on ebay. My grandmother got one for christmas and although it's way too big for her wrist, she wouldn't let me buy it off of her. So I had to find my own. :)

Last Parade (matthew good)

D really liked this picture so I included it even though it's just another shot of me :)

I've decided to title all of my posts (for the next ten days) after the tracks off of the new Matthew Good disc Vancouver, because it is truly amazing.

My grandmother told me that today is the first day of fall, and I haven't checked to see if she's right so I'm wearing fall colors anyway.

I saw this coat at Macy's last year and fell in love with it, but then convinced myself out of it. Then I dragged D to every Macy's around looking for it because I regretted not getting it. Needless to say I found it. (Of course it never appeared online). I wore it almost every day last season :)

working for the weekend (hey mercedes)

Yay it's Friday! D and I are taking my grandmother out to IHOP for dinner tonight, because we're classy like that. I think I'll end up wearing what I wore to work today.

Also, I hate how my hair looks today. I decided not to part it and pull it back with a headband and I feel that from a distance I look like Richard Simmons. Seriously.

(if this is your photo I'll gladly credit you)

am i alone in this?

I wasn't feeling very inspired when I picked out my outfit last night. But oh well. I am looking forward to going through my bins of sweaters and putting my more summery stuff into storage. Oh seasons, I heart you. In Florida it was just hot, hotter, and hottest.

Lauren Conrad's new Kohl's clothing line is getting a lot of flack (at least from Jezebel) and I sort of disagree. I am in love with this dress in paint blue. I was very close to ordering it today...Actually her other dress is really nice too, in the watercolor grey. I guess I don't really hate her as a person (and judge her clothes based on how I feel about her) because I really don't watch that much TV. Also, I'm not a huge fashion expert. But anywhoo, I like them and hopefully they'll go on sale eventually.

I know you don't like mirrors...(idlewild)

No head shot today because I look like someone punched me in the face (in other words, rather puffy and tired).

This used to be one of my favorite shirts and while I still love it, I definitely don't wear it as much as I used to.

I've also never worn these pants before. They are a bit too big in the waist and I'm always pulling them up. For whatever reason the "sweetheart" cut at Old Navy is too big in my waist...

The shoes look very red in the closer shots but in person they match the maroon color on my top. 'Cause I like to match, not just go (sorry Stacy and Clinton). Also, I love to sit and stare at these shoes. I think they are adorable.

The necklace and earrings are part of my great finds from Wisconsin. We all went into a little boutique with extremely overpriced clothing that I couldn't even dream of fitting into, and I came across this lovely necklace and earrings set. The only downside is the necklace is very heavy so I try to wear it on cooler days so my neck doesn't overheat :)

Lastly, who can go wrong with a $4 ring? I love it.

carrying bottled skies around

So my beach trip went well. The motel was pretty sleazy, but that's what you get when you pay $61 a night. Friday we went to the boardwalk and bought some pizza, Saturday we went to the beach in the morning and then out to Phillips Seafood for dinner (amazing fried oysters) and an irish bar for drinks. Sunday was spent at the rehoboth outlets, where I did NOT buy shoes, amazingly enough. Then we ate at the original Dogfish Head restaurant, which was very exciting for me because I am a huge fan of their MD location. Monday we went back to the beach before we had to checkout, then we did some mini-golfing with the dinosaurs (I made 2 hole-in-ones!!) and then we went to the Sonic in Salisbury and I ate an amazingly greasy sandwich with bacon egg and cheese....Now I'm taking a break from my mountain of work.

As far as my outfits go, I wore the same jewelry and shoes every day. And for some reason I decided to pack a bunch of long dresses, which worked out fine. What I wore Friday turned out to be so comfortable I wanted to wear it for the drive home. And I always get compliments on this brown CAbi dress when I wear it. I had my mom hem it about 2.5 inches because it hit me at an odd part of my calves and now I love it even more. I think I'm going to wear a green shirt under it next time. Also, it has pockets so how could I not love it?

when you leave, you leave nothing but broken hearts (thursday)

If you didn't know the title, old school Thursday is how I'm feeling today.

So today I'm leaving work early and going to ocean city! I've never been, and I'm actually pretty excited. Of course we're going to the rehoboth outlets (the same ones I had such great luck at in July) so I'm super happy about that. I'm making a wish list in an effort to stop impulse buying. I'll let you all know how that goes.

I had to pack sort of last minute last night and I ended up packing a bunch of dresses, which is abnormal for me because I live in jeans when I'm not at work. But I'm feeling larger than normal so dresses it is! :)

Today's ensemble (minus the jewelry + belt) is all courtesy of Target. And yes, that's the same shirt that I wore yesterday in another color.

oh be joyful, 'cause that shit spreads (matthew good)

Today is my better half's birthday, so I'm wearing a new (it still had the tags anyway) dress in honor of the occasion. Happy Birthday D!!!

I think I have now worn this dress in all of the colors I own, which is three. My coworkers had a laugh at that today....They complimented me and I told them I might have it in a few other colors :)

Remember my adorable lovely shoes from yesterday? I swear they nearly ripped black holes in my heels. :( I hate new shoes that don't break in very easily. So today I went for shoes that I knew wouldn't bother me.

Overused black cardigan: Target ($8, May 2009)
Floral dress: NY & Co (it was an exchange, so nothing? heh, June 2009)

i thought you were sleeping...

Long day, comfy outfit, same old same old. Except I've never worn this green shirt or the shoes.

And the shoes, let me tell you. I love them. Have you ever bought something and loved it so much you were afraid to wear it? Maybe I'm just crazy, but that would be these shoes for me. The colors are just perfection-lovely fall blocks of color. And I love the detailing around the top. *le sigh* So of course when I got to work today it was raining and nasty and I was seriously considering running in to the building barefoot to save the shoes, but they made it through alright. :)

White cardigan: Target ($8.49, February 13, 2008-I actually looked it up online because I'm a giant nerd)

i keep my secrets safe...(saosin)

I'm thinking this is the last time I'll wear this dress before fall and winter come around. I wish I could think of a way to rework it, but I don't like how it looks with any of the jackets I have, and wearing leggings/tights/jeggins!? would look off, in my opinion. Plus, blue + white seem to be nautical summer colors...or so they tell me.

Speaking of jackets...I was in Target with D yesterday and I came across this lovely peacoat in a beautiful warm brown color. I feel like the sizing is very small (even in their largest size) but I love it soso much....Of course D thinks it fits me fine...Decisions decisions...What do you all think?

Back to the outfit-At least I'm wearing different shoes from last time. These are a pair that I bought at the outlets back in July. They're Etienne Aigner and I got them for a wonderful price of $20 (no tax!) And, they're a size 8, which I don't normally wear. :)

I must confess, I was bad this weekend. I bought two pairs of boots (one black, one brown, of course) from 6pm. But they were only $20 each! And yes, I did get rid of two more pairs of shoes to honor my shoe ban...Also, my ebay stuff sold for over $75 so I'm pretty thrilled about that. Only one pair of boots didn't sell, so I'm going to sell them to the consignment store.

Yay for it being a Tuesday!

the alarming sound of a still small voice (saosin)

I felt because I dressed down yesterday I would put more of an effort into today's outfit. This skirt is part of the huge haul I bought at the NJ outlets back in May. It's from that brand CAbi, which I adore, and I paid less than $20 for it at the outlet. I swear this skirt fits me like I wish all skirts did. I can't wait to go to Miami and visit their CAbi outlet store :)

Also, I wish Old Navy would sell these shirts again. Mine has a stain on it that I didn't notice before and I want to replace it.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

get up and go (matthew good)

Ah, how I wish it were Friday. Although I'm dreading the upcoming weeks because it's going to be very busy.

I put a bunch of stuff up for sale on ebay last night. Hopefully they will sell well because I need some money for my upcoming beach trip. *crosses fingers*

constants aren't so constant anymore...(the weakerthans)

I saw this skirt on clearance when I was out the other weekend and I wanted to wear it at least once before it gets too cold. :) A few of the blogs I follow have said that tiered skirts/dresses on larger women don't always flatter, and I usually agree but I felt that the pattern on this particular skirt is busy enough that the tiered part doesn't break my bottom half up too much.

The whole outfit is from Ann Taylor Loft (and it was all on sale at the various times I bought the pieces) except for the shoes and the necklace. Also, I adore the whole brooch thing that seems to be popular at the moment, but I hate sticking holes in my outfits. So now I'll probably always wear a pin with this one since I've already stuck it :)

You get two shots today-the first with flash and the last without. I couldn't decide which was better.

is it really only tuesday?

Man, I am having some serious problems rolling out of bed these days. I just keep telling myself-the upcoming Monday is a holiday. It also marks 3 years of my living here. Scary, yes.

I felt good about this outfit until I saw the pictures. I sort of feel like the cream color on the shoes doesn't go with the herringbone on the pants. But oh well. It's almost my first cardigan wearing day. :) I'm going to make it look like fall, even if it's 80 degrees out!

I think I might stop watermarking my pictures. I don't expect this blog to get a lot of traffic, and I can't imagine why someone would want to take the photos and use them elsewhere. Decisions decisions....
