chilly willy!

We woke up to more snow this morning, but it was nothing like our huge storm from last week. I ended up working from home until late this morning and driving in when the roads would be a little more friendly.

D and I don't have any plans tonight outside of staying warm and possibly watching some movies. New year's always makes me a little stressed, as if I'm supposed to have done something major in the last 10 seconds of the year. Fortunately I found a boyfriend that doesn't watch the ball drop :)

pachuca sunrise...(minus the bear)

I've been trying to think of ways to wear this sweater since I bought it last year... It's very cold today so I decided to layer a cashmere sweater under it. I feel like the layer underneath makes me look a little less lineback-ish in the shoulders. :) I got this red cashmere sweater for a steal when I first moved up to MD. I didn't even know what cashmere was, but I have since become a convert. And what's even better is that I didn't pay over $30 for it when it went on clearance.

I decided to risk looking as pale as the wall behind me to give everyone a glimpse of another part of my office. My coworkers snuck in and decorated it for my birthday while I was on vacation. I was really touched when I arrived on Monday and saw streamers and birthday balloons. Then today my office neighbor came in and gave me the brown bracelet I have on, which happened to match with my outfit for today.

From 70's back to the 30's

Oh FL weather, I already miss you.

Obviously we all got home safely yesterday. I will say that I will never fly on my birthday again. No fun! But we did open our gifts from one another (D, my grandmother, and myself) and I have to say I'm totally excited that I got a blender. That's right, a blender gets me excited. Smoothies and mixed drinks shall be mine!

The shirt I have on today is one of my favorite shirts, bought right before I started this blog. I think I wore it 3 days straight while in Milwaukee for work.

it has been a crazy week

Well guys, I wasn't planning on having a hiatus. I'm in Florida until 12/28 and I planned on updating the blog, but that didn't go like I planned it to due to our horrendous journey to get to FL. But first, my clothes.

The first shot is from our crazy northern snowstorm on Saturday afternoon. I had on my Old Navy Jacket ($56) with an eternity scarf from Dillards ($6!) and some flannel pj's (aerie) with some boots (avon, $45). We've estimated that there was at least 18 inches of snow. Other places got 26 inches!

The second shot is what I wore on the plane. I wanted to be comfortable, so here's how that worked for me:

Moto jacket: NY & Co (B1G1 50% off $32, October 2009)
Top: Kohl's ($14ish, October 2009)
Jeans: Gap Outlet Long & Lean ($35, July 2009)
Scarf: From a Gap dress
Shoes: Nine West Outlet ($20, July 2009)

So I need to vent about getting to FL. First, I was able to change our flight from Saturday to Monday morning with no extra fee, which was fantastic. Then I booked the three of us a shuttle to get to the airport since both my car and D's car have been acting up. We get up at 4am on Monday morning to find out our flight has been delayed. Alright, no big deal. So we're waiting outside for the shuttle (which was supposed to arrive between 5:55 and 6:10am). 6:15 comes around and the shuttle still isn't at the house. So D calls to find out what's going on. Turns out they've canceled everyone in the suburbs, so they're not coming to get us. So we decide to take my car, which has been acting up for the past week or so. Acting up how you ask? Well, the gas pedal stops working from time to time, and there are various lights that keep fading in and out even when they're not in use (like the emergency brake light and the battery light). But we figured it would get us to the airport. Wroooong. The gas pedal stops working about 10 min. into our drive but D is able to get the car started again. We make it about 3 miles from the airport (keep in mind we're on I-95 at this point) and the gas pedal stops working again. So D pulls over on a tiny piece of shoulder (we're surrounded by snow) and tries to turn the car off and back on again. Nothing happens. He tried a few more times, but nothing happened. So we're stuck in 20 degree weather on the side of I-95, cars whizzing by us, and my 90 year old grandmother is wheezing in the backseat. So I call AAA and ask if a towtruck can come get us. In a very short amount of time the towtruck shows up, but it can only bring two people in the truck. So AAA calls a cab for us. Well, an hour later the cab still hasn't arrived, and the AAA sends out another tow truck to pick us up so we can follow the first tow truck to the maintenance shop. Meanwhile, it's about 8:45am, and our flight is delayed until 10:20am. We get to the maintenance shop and they say they can't look at the car, but the woman working the front desk is willing to take us to the airport so we can try to make our flight. Things are looking up, right? Well, we get to the airport and the line to check in outside is about 45 people deep. The inside is even worse. So D goes and finds a wheelchair for my grandmother, which puts us into some sort of priority line, and we're able to make it to our flight in time and my parents can now relax.

Meanwhile, I've been in contact with the car shop and they said it was just the alternator (which I just had replaced about a month ago). Turns out they put it in wrong and the whole thing burnt up, which was causing electrical shortages and that's why the car wouldn't start again. So hopefully, when we get back into BWI, things will be alright with the car.

I still can't believe we made it. *sigh* It's been a stressful trip down, but beautiful otherwise.

all bogged down.

I was running super late today so I threw my hair up and it's too messy for pictures. :) I've been hiding in my office for most of the day.

NY & Co had a great sale (B1G1 75% off, plus an extra 30% off) so I bought some more of those amazing pull on pants that I adore so much. They added two more colors and I decided to wear one of them today.

I finally broke out my original VanEli boots from DSW. They're a beautiful deep burgundy color, and I'm feeling very matchy matchy with my sweater. I'm not going to lie...I have a matching bag too but I didn't get a picture of it.

biding my time until lunch.

Yesterday my coworker took us out for lunch (we just finished a project and it went well) and I got a cobb salad. I'm insanely excited about eating the leftover portion for lunch today, hence the title of this post.

I have to tell you all that I love these jeans. I've had them for quite some time (although I haven't been able to fit into them since last winter) and I'm glad to be wearing them again. Sometimes I forget that I do have fairly long legs, even if they're not skinny. These jeans remind me :) Also, they're the perfect length with these boots. Although if you just glance at the picture it looks like they cover my boots because they blend so well with our fabulous office carpet.

I have been terrified to wear my lovely gray suede boots in case it starts raining. You would think I'd get over it since I sit in an office for 8 hours of the day and the only rain I would encounter would be to/from my car, but I'm still worried about it. Today there is a zero chance of rain, but I still brought an extra pair of boots just in case my building floods, or something. I would put suede preserving stuff on them, but all of the ones I've looked at warn that the suede may get darker, which I do not want. Any suggestions readers?

it's my 100th post!

Can you believe it? I feel like I should have done something extra special today for my 100th posting but as you can see, this is anything but special. Although in looking at my blog I haven't worn the shirt since August 28 and considering I used to wear it once a week I consider this progress!

I love these jeans, and I haven't been able to fit into them for quite some time. It must be my oyster cracker diet. I'm kidding, but that is my lunch today because I forgot to bring something in. Anyway, I think ATL cuts their jeans differently now because I hate the way the new ones fit. So I try to take care of the two pairs that I do own.

Yesterday I wore the cutest outfit, but I didn't have a chance to get a picture of it. Figures.

I'm not so down with the sickness...

I woke up this morning feeling fine, and now I'm barely able to keep my eyes open and my sinuses are killing me! See that red on my cheeks? I'm not wearing blush and I'm not embarrassed; I think I have a fever. Aaaand I have way too much work to do. But enough of my complaining...

I planned on wearing a skirt today. The skirt felt fine last night when I put it on, but when I got it on this morning it kept bunching up and annoying me so I opted to wear a dress with a shirt over it instead. Then I wanted to add a belt but my outfit yesterday and the one I have planned for tomorrow both involve a waist belt so I left it off.

I had a long training today and this made for a comfortable "sit and look like you know what everyone is talking about" outfit.

I made a wish with lucky denver mint...(jimmy eat world)

I've got to tell you dear readers, I'm feeling pretty awesome in this outfit. I feel very professional and pulled together. It's funny how feeling good about an outfit can change the way your day starts out. Now I just have to get through the other 7 hours of the workday :)

This dress has been on my list of things to wear but I couldn't figure out what I wanted to put under or over it because it's sleeveless. Since I'm trying not to wear cardigans all day every day I opted for a thin colored shirt to go under the dress and add some variation. Also, I never ever thought I would wear booties with a dress because I thought they would look too much like witch shoes. But I have to say I love the way these look. And it's all thanks to you glorious bloggers.

Did anyone else get snow? It's so beautiful until it gets all dirty and mucky. Having lived in FL for so long must have made me extra giddy about snow or something.

eleven to your seven...(hey mercedes)

I've been dreading this workweek all weekend but it just got a lot sweeter because our raises have been detailed for us and it just makes the work a little easier to deal with :) Also, I was promoted! Yaaaay!

I've had this dress for at least 1.5 years (if not 2) and I've never worn it until today. My boots are also new, although I just got them in the mail. They were a bit of a splurge, and they definitely look different than their website pics (to me at least) but I like them. It's a departure from my normal pointy toe fashion. And so far they're pretty comfortable. Also, I love that the calf fits!

Brownosing it.

So I'm debating buying these same boots I have on in black. They're on sale, plus an extra 25% off, and they're really comfortable. Plus, I don't own any high black boots with a heel (I have one flat pair). But I would have to get the calves stretched, which is a pain and of course makes the shoes cost more in the end.

Decisions, decisions.

I'm very glad today is Friday. I feel like I'm getting sick and I'm hoping a lot of rest throughout the weekend will clear me up.

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

feeling left out.

This shirt is one of my favorite purchases from last year. Also, my coworker really seems to like it. Had I have known I would have bought her one :) Sometimes I think this style isn't the most flattering for people with my chest size, but I don't care because I love the pattern and it's comfortable.

I have never worn this bracelet because it's a bit heavy and feels like ceramic (even though it's not), so I'm convinced I'm going to break it on something. But I'm being careful...

After looking at that picture, my pants look very slumped at the bottom. I feel like they don't do that when I'm walking or sitting (obviously). I'm just saying.... :)

time heals nothing by itself (tick tock turn it off)...(jimmy eat world)

I've been listening to some live Jimmy Eat World a lot as of late. It's a good pick-me-up while I'm stuck in rush hour traffic.

When I was picking out my outfit last night I could not settle on something that made me happy. I knew I didn't want to wear a dress, and I feel like I've thrown a cardigan over everything too often for the past week. I did manage to break out the brown shoes that are exactly like my black ones that I've worn for the past two days. :)

you don't deserve a point of view if the only thing you see is you...(paramore)

I could not drag myself out of bed this morning. Ugh.

Today you'll see more pull on pants and comfy shoes. I feel I'm in a rut even though my closet is full.

I painted my nails with Opi's "Absinthe Makes the Heart" while watching Intervention and Hoarders last night. The nail polish is supposed to be a gray color with green glitter, which I figured would go with brown or black themed outfits...In show news, the woman on Intervention made me a little stabby and if you put her in a room with the woman from Hoarders it would not end well.

I got my boots that I ordered from endless.com yesterday. I'm returning the adorable gray pair because they're incredibly uncomfortable and the heel is too high for me.
