I could use a warm kiss instead of a cold goodbye...

Hi all,

Sorry for the late update. It's been a shitasticly bad day, so my photos had to be taken after work. Also, I'm wearing a shirt that's at least 2 sizes too big on me. Nothing a little belting can't help (next up: hot water and the dryer).

I hope you all had a better day than I did!

a random photo session

Hi all,

How is your week going? I'm in denial about it being Wednesday, the end of the month, and the year 2010 in general. Guess I should get over it already.

My coworker and I went out on a quick errand during lunch and she got very excited about this truck sitting in a parking lot. When I mentioned that I happened to have my camera we just had to stop. She's also the only person among my "real life" relations (outside of the boyfriend) that knows I have a fashion blog, so she took today's photo for me :)

Don't be deceived by those black flats I'm wearing in the picture. I actually wore the wonderful teal heels today but I didn't want to walk around in them during lunch.

Happy Wednesday!

and so the long process of growing my bangs out starts...

Good morning all,

How was your weekend? Mine involved a lovely Saturday night date, the movie "Sharktopus" followed by AMC's sunday night Rubicon, add a side of cat lounging and all in all not a bad couple of days.

I had a crappy morning as far as getting ready today. I recently bought a wide-toothed comb, which I'm told will make my hair look better because curly hair doesn't like being brushed (sorry past 12+ bad. My hair used to be wavy. Then the great middle school perm came along and it's been curly ever since). Anyway, since I'm not used to wielding a comb I snagged one of the teeth on my ear cartilage piercing and ripped it out. Ugh, not a recommended experience at any time of day, let alone 6:45am. So I replaced the hoop with a stud (which I think I'll just keep for a while) and by the time everything was said and done I really didn't feel like styling my bangs...Well, let's be honest, I never feel like dealing with bangs. Perhaps I'll just keep pulling them back until they're long enough to blend into layers. *le sigh* Do any of you have curly hair and bangs? How do you manage it?

Ripped piercings aside, I hope you all have a lovely day. Mine is sure to get better :)

working for the weekend (again)...

Hey all,

The weather may not be nice and fall-like today, but I wore my fall inspired shoes anyway. I've only worn these once (cost per wear=way too high) but I love them and can't seem to part with them. For a close-up see this post.

All morning I wondered if this top would be considered work appropriate. See through lace is sort of showy, but in a coral color I feel that it doesn't look to stripteaseish...Right? Right....Anyway it's super comfortable for our sweaty weather today, and if a coworker freaks out at seeing my arm fat then that's their problem. Or something. :)

Happy Friday!

I'm a shoe cheater!

Hey all,

So remember the adorable blue heels I bought that I was just so damn excited about? Well I am a bad shoe mother. While I am still stoked about my blue shoes, I went out and bought their kindred in red and decided to wear them first. Shoe neglect award, here I come!

My real reason for debuting the red ones (other than the huge cuteness factor) is stress related. I mean, a pair of red shoes just makes me feel a little bit better about everything. Today is definitely a red shoe day.

I hope you all have a lovely Thursday!

**I actually joined a "shoe club" via Must Have Shoes in order to get a discounted price on these lovelies. Even though it cost $20/year to join the shoe club I made up the cost plus another $20 off with their discount system.

summer's second wind...

 Hey all,

It looks like the rest of our week won't be very fall-like so I wanted to get a wear out of a couple more summery dresses. I keeled over (with happiness) when I saw this dress for sale on ebay, and was even more surprised to learn it's made by Merona (Target). I don't recall ever seeing anything like this, but it could be from a while back. :)

I mean, who can say no to this cute bird pattern?

Happy Wednesday!

I'm back, and with a new lipstick :)

Hi all,

Sorry for my unexpected absence yesterday, but I promise my clothing wasn't too exciting. Will a cute cat picture earn my forgiveness?

So today's outfit was actually planned for yesterday's wear, but I got a case of the lazy Monday's and went with jeans and a cardi instead.

Let me go on a tangent about this lip color. Yesterday after work finally ended we stopped in Target for some movie snacks (my coworker and I saw Scott Pilgrim vs The was amazing) and I decided to try out Maybelline's new lip stain (I had a $2 off coupon). I have to say, it is so much better than CoverGirl's lip stain. CG usually dries out my lips and leaves a faded ring of color, but Maybelline's really stays. I put some on last night and it was still there when I woke up this morning :) If you're interested, the color I'm wearing today is called "cranberry crush". It even has a nice fruity smell to it.

I hope you all have a lovely Tuesday!

a Friday of epic proportions...

 Good morning everyone,

I wanted to wear something I felt good in since I knew today would be long. These pants are from Target's new fit line and I love them. I actually bought them in the other colors as well but none of them looked right. The fabric on these is much more forgiving than the others. Can I also say that I think the colors/pattern mixing looks lovely today? I'm going to give myself a pat on the back. :)

We never made it to the moonlight cruise last night. It started raining and we were both not in the mood to deal with the metro/rush hour/etc...So hopefully we'll go another day.

Lastly, here's a better shot of my shoes:

Happy Friday!

venturing into the city...

Hi all,

A couple weeks ago I bought two tickets for a night-time monument cruise via the local GroupOn site. Tonight is the night we decided to redeem them. I haven't been on a boat since I was about 10, and I am both nervous and very excited about tonight. I decided to go with a nautical navy look, and kept my accessories simple. I've brought along a khaki trench coat and a scarf in case it gets cooler on the water.

I hope you all have a lovely day!

a daily outfit change...

Hi all,

This was not what I originally wanted to wear today. My plans involved a plain charcoal gray dress with which to show off the beautiful shoes pictured below.

Now I'm not going to lie. These shoes were not cheap ($73.50 w/a discount on amazon). Normally when I'm eyeballing something online I'll sit on it for up to a week. Especially with shoes. Double especially when they're over $50. But when I came across these beauties I actually gasped and only managed to wait one whole day before deciding I had to have them. After my almost instant gratification (thank you amazon prime; even though I specified free 2-day shipping I got them in one) I was looking forward to wearing them today. But when this morning came around the temps were too low for the flimsy gray dress so I went with this outfit instead. But I promise you, those shoes are going to be on my feet very soon :)

Anyway, on to the outfit I actually wore today. I bought this cardigan with this exact dress in mind. I have paired the dress with other colors but I thought a nice dark gray would look good with it, and dark gray might be the one color cardigan I didn't previously own. I like this ON cardigan because it's a soft jersey material, but the material is a little heavier, which I like for the upcoming months.

Hope you all have a good one!

tuesday twirling...

Good morning/afternoon all,

I'm so happy to hear that I'm not the only one checking out the maternity goods. Now I don't have to get rid of all my maternity dresses :) Just kidding, they're cute and no one can tell the difference. To show off my happiness I decided to wear another maternity dress today :) I saw this dress and was so taken I paid full price for it...Whenever I see something I really like at Target I buy it (within budget) and then contemplate it because I've learned that something you really want will likely be sold out later.

Anyway, this look came to mind last winter, and at the time I was totally excited about it. Then for some reason I kept forgetting to put the maxi dress with the jacket and bam, it's fall already. Better late than never I suppose.

(This was my failed attempt at spinning around. I look like a floating ghost!)
I hope you all have a fantastic Tuesday!

I'll subtract pain by ounces. Yeah, I will start painting houses, if things come alive...(interpol)

(sorry for the blurriness; the sun wasn't out in full force this morning)
Happy afternoon,

Did you all have a good weekend? Mine was pretty enjoyable. I left work early on Friday because I wasn't feeling well but by Saturday I was feeling like myself again and we went and saw Resident Evil: Afterlife. Normally I don't go to a movie on opening weekend (or to see it in 3D) but D was nice enough to go with me and the theater had less than 30 people in it so all was well.

My weather reporter grandma said it would be going up to 85 today so I wanted to break out these new-to-me shoes I won on ebay. I lovelovelove the color but sadly I haven't worn them much around the office because they hit my toes in a way that makes it impossible for me to walk without pain. Perhaps some socks and breaking in are in order for next weekend. Do you all have any new shoe tips/advice? As you can see, I already put some heel cushions in them.

Before I go I have a confession to make to you all. I'm a fan of Target's maternity section, and I am in no way/shape/form pregnant. Please tell me I'm not the only one. I mean, you don't have to have another human being floating around in you for their clothing to be comfortable and flattering! I'm mentioning this because I've gotten quite a few compliments on today's dress, and when I say it's from Target people have said that they haven't seen it before, which prompts me to tell them to look in the maternity section. Then before they can die of shock or congratulate me (depending on how well they know me) I assure them that I am not pregnant thankyousoverymuch but yes, non-preggers can wear maternity clothing. Agree? Disagree? Help me out here...

Have a good one!

it's a very special Friday indeed...

Hi all,

This week managed to go by quickly, even though it started out sort of slow. Today is D's 31st birthday so we're going to have a nice night out at our favorite irish bar.

I don't have much else to say for today.  Have a good one!

fall surprised me this morning...

Good morning,

How about some background? My grandmother is like a portable weather repeater. She hears whatever they predict the weather to be (on the news/radio) and then repeats it to us for the rest of the day. This goes on every day. "Today is going to be really windy" she says, or "It's only supposed to go up to 79 today. We're getting a cold front." Clearly her weather definitions differ from mine (a gust of wind is not always a hurricane grandma, nor is 70-80 degree weather "chilly"). All of this is to say that this morning I did not heed my grandmother's weather output (cold front!) and for the first time that I can remember, I wore something sleeveless to work.

(I managed to detach my hand from my hip for one whole shot!)
Now, I am all about accepting your body, working with what you've got, positive thoughts, a slice of cheesecake is not the end of the world, blah blah etc...but I've never been comfortable showing my arms. All throughout my teenage years my stick-thin arms were hidden under flannel shirts and long sleeves.  When I gained weight during college (and um, ever since) I made sure to always have a stockpile of cardigans and sweaters to throw on over the numerous beautiful sleeveless dresses I own. But for whatever reason I just couldn't cover up this dress. And you know what? I think it looks great. Yesterday I saw no less than 3 coworkers with sleeveless outfits and thought "I'm going to do it! Tomorrow is going to be a sleeveless day!"

(Believe it or not, I am not wearing stockings...)
Aaaand it's 60 degrees out. So I wore a cardigan into work and took it off right when I got in the building. :)

Do you all have any body insecurities you'd like to share? How about overcoming them?

Happy sleeveless Thursday!

I thought we were friends. I guess it just depends who you ask. These feelings tend to leave me with a hole in my chest...(alkaline trio)

Good morningish all,

I won this dress a few weeks ago on ebay and I've been looking forward to wearing it.** I really wanted to pair it with black shoes but decided to do something daring and go with....gray. :) And in the interest of full disclosure instead of a red belt I went with maroon. Craaazy!

My outdoor shots were pretty dismal today. I kept running into pieces of nature I usually try to avoid (webs, dirt, etc...) so I retreated to the kitchen. Apparently the floor really interested me!

I hope you all have a lovely Wednesday!
(if I stare long enough cookies will come out of the floor...)

fireworks at dawn...

Good afternoon all,

I just finished a phone call and realized that I said "oh, it's a Monday" when asked how my day was going. So I decided to take a break and update the 'ol blog.

How was your weekend? Mine was pretty fabulous. As I mentioned last week, my grandmother celebrated her 91st birthday on Sunday so I decided to try out some new eye make-up during night of our family birthday dinner. I love the colors and the eyeshadow primer ensured that the color stayed put all night :)
(make-up shot)
In another "first" for me, something I swore I would never do, I wore leggings as pants! Huge, right? After making triple sure that my tunic top did indeed cover my broad behind I decided to venture out in public with the leggings/pants. I know I'm pretty much the last person to figure this out, but leggings are comfortable! I was quite pleased with many of the photos, so I'm sharing them all with you.

yay for 3 day weekends!

Good morning everyone,

Since I consider this cardigan to be very spring/summer-like my time to wear it is getting shorter and shorter. Although I could bust it out on a winter day (while layering 20 things over it) to make the day a little brighter. But that's getting a bit ahead of myself.

Do you all have any plans for the long weekend? My grandmother's 91st birthday is Sunday so we're going to go to my aunt's house for dinner. D and I ordered a special ice cream cake from coldstone that we're going to give her tonight and I can't wait to try and fit 91 candles on it. And don't even get me started on trying to find a gift for her. I mean, what do you buy a 91 year old woman that can't see? Needless to say, my options are limited. This year I'm going to print out a picture from the beach trip and put it in a frame for her. I figure she has 30 pictures of my cousins up everywhere so she should vary it up a little :)

Happy Friday!

Your teeth carry marks, pictures, stories and charts and biting that lip won't hide a lot...(pompeii)

Good morning all,

I'm not a huge make-up person, but today I decided to try out some red lipcolor. Perhaps it wasn't such a good idea when paired with coral, but it's still a small step. I stopped wearing my mascara months ago due to the heat, and I'm looking forward to fall so I can start wearing it again. Do your make-up habits change with the seasons?

Sorry to make this short but I'm working through lunch today so this is my only chance to update. Hope you all have a good one!

perfecting the art of leaving...

Hi all,

I think today is going to be a good day. I set my alarm for 6:15, ended up waking up at 6:45, decided to risk taking the time to take an outdoor picture anyway and I still made it to work on time.

In other news, this whole outfit was picked out in order to match these new shoes (adorable, no?)  I almost bought them in a black and white pattern but I decided I have enough black shoes.

I hope you all have a good day!
