a great Friday outfit...

(blurry, but more true to the color)

Today's outfit was on the very casual side, but as I have mentioned, such is my work environment. I won this top on ebay right before I left for Milwaukee and I've been looking forward to wearing it. I envisioned pairing it with leggings and boots but the bottom is a bit tighter than I thought it would be (and shorter) so I think I'll stick with jeans...The necklace and ring are both purchases from my Milwaukee trip (it wasn't a lucky shopping trip clothing-wise for me but I got some great jewelry.) I actually bought this same necklace as a gift for my grandmother today (and only paid $7 for it this time!)

Do you all have any Halloweekend plans? Tonight I'm anxiously waiting for the return of What Not to Wear. Even though I disagree with Stacy and Clinton from time to time, I still love watching that show and watching all of the transformations. I'm also incredibly excited about the AMC show premiering Sunday, called The Walking Dead. It's a zombie series based on a graphic novel set that goes by the same name. I have been following the production shots/promos and the visuals look incredible. I guess you could say it's a TV weekend for me :) I hoe you all have a great weekend, and Happy Halloween!

thoroughly thursday...

So I woke up late to take pictures in actual daylight but the pictures didn't turn out very well (and really, I overslept). Fortunately, it was still light out when I got home so you get to see me all tired and after-workish.

This necklace is one of my Milwaukee purchases and I love it. There is a multi-chained silver necklace running through all of the gold links. And at under $15 you can't beat the price. I love it when ATL has their extra half off sales :)
We're almost to Friday!

I'm back for real this time!

Hi all,

I feel like I haven't updated in forever! How have you all been? I managed to pinch a nerve in my back so I was out yesterday trying to take it easy (and I'll be wearing boring flats for a while if it keeps up).

So Chicago was beautiful. The weather was great every day-no rain and hardly any wind! I don't think I've ever walked so much in my life. We took the train from Chicago to Milwaukee, which was a first for me, and it was really quite pleasant. I'll post some pictures soon :)

Ah, it feels good to be back home. I'm not used to traveling, and I don't think I've ever been away from D or my grandmother for such a long amount of time. I'm also sorry that I didn't have a chance to update the blog at all. We were up until 1 and 2am almost every night working on our Milwaukee presentation, so it didn't leave a lot of time for idle resting/blog updates. I promise I will still do a post about ebay and my packing routine.

I hope you all have a lovely Tuesday!

I'm still here...

Hi all,

I'm so sorry about my lack of updating. I planned on doing some scheduled posts during my absence but I never had time to sit down and write them before I left, and it seems like every spare moment I have now is taken up with presentation work.

So I just wanted to apologize, because I feel terrible about not updating for this long...but it is what it is. So thanks for sticking with me, and I'll be back to regular blogging next week.

Have a lovely week/weekend!

I am not a good travel companion...

Hi all,

I'm too old to be going on 4 hours of sleep. But that is the case today, because I'm total crap at traveling. I'm not sure why I get so nervous, but I was up very late last night thinking about all the possible things that could make my trip go awry. Outside of a plane malfunction, losing my bags is definitely my #1 fear. Do you all travel well? Any secrets you want to let me in on? :)

Anyway, my work outfit is not what I'm wearing on the plane. I plan on changing into leggings and a tunic once I get home. But I thought I would keep up the routine and post my morning picture regardless :)

I have some scheduled posts for next week (well, hopefully I will...since I haven't actually written them yet) but they will probably not be outfit shots. Just "good" reading :) I hope you all have a wonderful week next week and I'll talk to you all once I get back.

I'll take care of you...

Good morning all,

I'm in shock that we're leaving tomorrow night for Chicago. I started packing last night and now I'm thinking of starting over because I'm not sure how comfortable I'll be with what I thought of as "basics". My packing methods are really quite laughable, but I'll get into that next week :)

Sorry for the wonky photos today. It was pretty miserable outside and I didn't have time to take many pictures. Excuses excuses :)

Shades of animals...

Hello everyone,

Things are going a little insane today in K-town so I'm going to address what everyone hates hearing about....the weather. It's hot, grumble whine, etc...I unpacked all of my sweaters yesterday and threw my warmer clothes into storage boxes, so I'm glad dresses can serve well in both cold and warm weather. I guess that's pretty obvious though.

Have a good one!

She blinded me with science (and pale legs)...

Good morning everyone,

How was your weekend? I managed to rearrange all of my shoes, so I'm feeling pretty accomplished. I even have a whole bag to consign/ebay.

So I wanted to ask you all a question. I'll be out of town all of next week, and I'm trying to think of some topics to schedule while I'm gone. Is there anything you all would like to hear about? Right now the only thing I have in mind is a post about my ebay methods.

Without getting into too much detail, my work will be taking me to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for a training. It's our last year of training (this is the third year I've been involved), so my coworker and I decided to leave a little early and fly into Chicago and see the city for a couple days before heading over to Wisconsin. I don't travel a lot so I'm really looking forward to it. If anyone is in the Chicago/Midway area and you have suggestions about eateries/shopping let me know :)

Happy Monday!

I always had my hand on the bright side...(armor for sleep)

Good morning everyone,

Can you believe it's already Friday? Part of me is happy, while the other part is beginning to panic. I'm traveling for work next week and we have a lot to get done before we leave...But such is life, and this particular trip is usually enjoyable. I'll give you all more details next week :)

So do you all have any exciting weekend plans? D rescheduled our moonlight monument cruise for this Saturday night, and it looks like the weather should be nice (if not warm).Otherwise I just want to get some cleaning done and go through all of my shoes, which could take the better part of the weekend.

yesterday was a fantastic I'm content being tired today.

Hi all,

Yesterday was so nice and action-packed that I didn't have the time/energy to put together an outfit last night. Fortunately today's outfit idea had popped in my head a while ago, so while I was was moping in front of the closet I thought it would be and easy fix.

I hope you all have a lovely Thursday!

Dreaming dreams no mortals ever dared to dream before..(Poe)

Good morning everyone,

Pre-blog K would never have worn this outfit. All of the patterns mixing around, the various textures, and a big 'ol flower pin thrown on top, no way! But if there's one thing I've learned from all of the fabulous bloggers out there, it's that lines on a pant are actually pretty neutral and you don't have to wear a solid top with them. I know it's not changing the world or anything, but it sure does give me a lot more options in my closet.

Have other bloggers influenced the way you dress? If you have a blog favorite (or your own blog) I'd love to see it!

Happy middle-of-the-week!

(This was waiting for me in my office today. I named the balloon Edgar. It goes quite nicely with the poster, yes?)

photos from a doorway...

Hi all,

Thanks for sticking around after yesterday's rant. Things are looking up today. I know that some people aren't here for lengthy reads, so I'll make today's post shorter :)

I saw this skirt on ebay a while back for $70 and bookmarked it because I loved it so much. It actually reminds me of something that Kim over at Fab Finds would wear (and that's not a bad thing!) I'm glad I waited because I got it for much less than $70. I can't wait to pair it with black tights and booties/boots.

Happy Tuesday!

Monday, October 4, 2010

hello Monday, please go away.

Hi all,

Sorry for my absence over the past week. I don't mean to be a downer, but life has just not been going as planned, and taking blog pictures just fell into the ever-growing pile of things I haven't had the energy to accomplish. Hopefully things will start to be back on track this week, although if today is any indication of the days to come I'm not getting my hopes up.

As you know, I try to keep this blog rather impersonal and clothing related, but right now I need to vent. And just to warn you, it's long...

Since buying my new car (and getting the tags/title here instead of Florida) I have made two attempts to get a Maryland driver's license. The first time I didn't even make it past the customer service desk (I only had my "temporary" title, which wasn't good enough and I had to wait for my real title to be processes and mailed out). This morning I made it through everything except the part where I actually get handed my license. Instead of a wonderfully flattering picture declaring me a MD citizen, I got a piece of paper telling me that something is wrong with my license in Florida's database and I need to call them to figure out what's going on before I can switch it over to MD. So I used the number the MD people gave me, and it was out of service. My friend used her phone/internet and got another two customer service numbers, one of which was eternally busy and the other which was out of service. So finally I called 411 asking for the FL DMV. After I got a working number I was put on hold for 45 minutes. In the meantime my friend found another number for me to try, so I hung up with the first one and tried the second one, only to be put on hold for another 15 minutes. By that time it was close to noon, and both of us said we would be at work around lunchtime. So I hung up, figuring I'd try again once I got to work. So I tried again and got put on hold for 30 minutes, and then an automated message came on and said that they were experiencing an unusual problem, and to call back later. SERIOUSLY!

So I went online to see if I could find anything out that way. I entered in my FL Driver's license on the DMV website and got a message telling me my license has been suspended/revoked. Surprise! They didn't have any record of my Maryland insurance, so they suspended my license, effective today. Awesome, right? So I put in my insurance policy number/company, and supposedly my license is now "valid". But I want to make sure everything is in the clear before I go to the MD DMV for a third time, so I guess I'll have to call and be put on hold for another hour before hoping to talk to someone alive and breathing.

There's so much to look forward to today I can barely stand it! How was everyone's weekend? Tell me something wonderful and exciting, please.

There is one good thing going for today-I got a new spot to take photos.

Happy (not really) Monday!
