looking for better days...

Hey lovely readers,

My updating is going to be put on hold at least for today, if not longer. My grandmother is in the hospital and I'm not feeling very fashion bloggable at the moment.

I look forwarding to seeing all of your posts when things get back to normal.

an early update...

I thought I would wait to update the blog until later, but I opted to do it now since I'm in a meeting later today and time gets a little crunched on Friday afternoons (of all the days, blah).

I feel awesome in this outfit. There's just something about teal and gray that I really like. Not to mention this cardigan is perfection. I wish ATL would make a cardi in this fabric again (silk/cashmere). The only downside is having to dryclean it, but I think it's well worth it for the feel and fit of the garment.

I decided to go a little crazy with the ring stacking today. The two outer bands are part of the ring that I wore this past Wed. and the black diamond ring was a splurge purchase for me a couple years ago. The other diamond is my gift from D :)

So, blogger and firefox must not be getting along. Whenever I try to open anyone's blogger (including my own) on firefox it freezes and turns into a "not responding" window. But when I get home and try it in the evening it works fine (it also works using internet explorer). Odd....

holy ghost, won't you come out to play...(fun.)

So, today is day 2 of my horrible picture taking skills. If it goes like this tomorrow I might just spare you all. I just love routines, and updating this blog is one routine that I look forward to. Perhaps I should invest in a tripod and a camera capable of using a remote. Taking the pictures after work might help too. So I tried to give you all a closeup of my smiling face to make up for it. Didn't work, did it? :)

Last note-I adore these shoes. They are so cute and so far, comfortable.

missing a beat

Well, I lost my photographer today so you get my "stick the camera on the filing cabinet and hope for the best" photo shoot today. The second picture is an attempt to show you my boots, which went well, yes? Also, more photographic proof that I wear glasses, which is always awesome.

Is anyone else having trouble getting pages to open from blogspot? I tried to look at everyone's blogs yesterday but the pages wouldn't open and it kept crashing firefox.

I should have worn longer sleeves today...

I got this silly idea that it was getting warmer today, and, well, it's not at all. It said 19 degrees on my car thermometer this morning...I also had a beautiful dress all picked out in my head, but then decided I didn't want to fight with tights this morning. Speaking of tights, I'm really wanting some hunter green and charcoal gray ones...

The weekend was a bit of a bust. My grandmother hurt herself (long story), we lost some time seeing Daybreakers, and my flash drive decided to die on me. Fortunately a certain large store was offering a free 4 GB flash drive for some reason, and we went out and got one for each of us. So I guess that's a plus. I was able to save everything from the old one so I'm not too distraught.

I'm not sure if I've talked about the bracelet I have on today. When D first moved up here we went out to a thrift/antique store and I found this bracelet and fell in love. I think the heart at the clasp is really cute. For some reason people often ask me if the bracelet has real diamonds but it's just the way the silver is cut (there actually aren't any stones in the bracelet).

I know I've mentioned the blue ring before but if you're new to the blog, I got in on my first work travel experience at a consignment store. It was quite expensive, but I love it and it's a reminder of some good job-related times.

My other ring is from the now defunct Marc & Pearl website. I really miss them.

hoods on peregrine...(thrice)

I have had such a hard time getting out of bed this past week, and I'm so glad it's almost over.

This red skirt is actually a dress that I got from Ann Taylor Loft for a whopping $14.88 sometime last year. I've never worn it! Probably because it's a little revealing with a deep v-neck and a little figure hugging for my taste, but I love it as a skirt. If I knew how to hem I would probably take an inch or two off the bottom.

The top is actually an exchange I got when I was returning some christmas gifts that didn't fit. I got 2 other colors (I wouldn't want to surprise anyone here) and my total came to $15 for all of them!

And can I just rave about these tights? The first pair I put on this morning were Assets (same line that does Spanx) and they ripped immediately! So I grabbed these and they've been great all day. I love the pattern on them. Merona for the win!

Kasmira mentioned this in one of her recent posts, and I have been thinking about it as well-taking more detailed shots of the jewelry and accessories I have on for the day. Sometimes I don't feel like I should because I wear some of the same things each day (like the watch and the bracelet) but I thought I'd make the effort to take them anyway.

Red dress as a skirt: Ann Taylor Loft ($14.88!, 2008)

Black bracelets: Ann Taylor Loft (2008)
Watch: Diamondshark.com ($56, November 2009)
Silver bracelet: Lia Sophia via Ebay ($12, 2009)

Yesterday some coworkers took me out for a late birthday lunch and I didn't get a full shot of the dress, but here's what it looked like:
Dress: Dillards ($54, November 2009)

Would you believe me if I told you I already did some holiday shopping for next year? I totally did! I got 4 necklaces from Ann Taylor Loft for $3.66 each to give to each of my aunts this coming year. Hehe....

owls, peacocks, and squid are a few of my favorite things....

I got to work a little late today and on my way in I stopped by the thrift store to pick up whatever they didn't choose to sell. According to my invoice they're selling everything for $166, and if it all sells I get half of that. A vintage dress is the only thing they decided not to sell. So, I'm pretty excited about that.

I'm considering selling the dress I have on today (on ebay). I have seen it on quite a few other bloggers and I think it looks great on them, but I always feel pregnant in it. Argh.

In other news, I gave in and ordered these same boots I have on in brown from Piperlime. Yesterday they were offering an extra 20% off their sale items, plus I wanted something from Old Navy so I got an extra 10% for it being Tuesday, and free shipping on everything with my Old Navy credit card. Unfortunately they had sold out of 9's by the time I ordered, so I went for an 8.5. If it doesn't work at least it's free to send the shoes back. I also went through all of the shoes I have stored (out of sight/out of mind) under my bed and found about 5 pairs to sell/donate. Perhaps I've watched Hoarders too much and it's getting to me...

I also wanted to point something out to my few awesome readers. If I'm raving about something, it's not because I'm being paid or reimbursed to do so. I'm doing it because I genuinely like the product/brand/store/etc...As of right now, my blog does not appear in any search results, so you can only find it one of two ways. One: you know the URL. Two: you were referred to this blog (usually through another blogger). Right now that's the way I want to keep it. Even though my blog is less exposed, which means fewer readers, I like having more control over who sees it. I started this blog because I admired the other people that do daily postings of their outfits and I wanted to be a part of it, and because I wanted to document what I wear and challenge myself to do more with my outfits. I'm not saying that my blog settings won't change, but as of right now, this is how I like it.

bring on the comets...(vhs or beta)

Sometimes the interweb still has the power to amaze me. I mean, before discovering all of the lovely fashion blogs out there I never would have thought to put a turtleneck under a deep v-neck dress to make it warmer in the winter, or wear bright purple tights with anything, and today you get both.

I think the tights are helping people notice the fab boots. I mean, I've worn them a bazillion times but I got a bunch of compliments today (from people that see me daily). Perhaps they hate the tights so much that they feel the need to compliment the shoes? The shoes are lovely in comparison, yes? Haha I'm not being a self-hater; I need some sleep.

I had to fool around with the colors in this picture, which is why I look so pale. I mean, I am very pale, but this picture really washes me out. It was too cold to fool around with the flash. :)

If I hear "new year, new you" one more time I'll scream...

2010, I still can't believe it. I spent new year's watching the 3rd season of 30 Rock. I hope you all had a lovely time doing whatever it is you do. :)

I just got these boots and I'm loving them. They are super comfortable and I love the silver buttons on the side. I just wish I had worn some thick socks over my tights because they slide around a little bit when I'm walking.
