why am I suddenly so hungry in the morning?

Official photo
My interpretation
Oh, the pockets!
I lovelovelove the texture on these earrings
Yet another pair of awesome tights.
I've never been a breakfast person but lately I've been starving in the morning when I wake up. I wonder what's up with that?

Anyway, I love this dress due to the pockets, which I'm sure I've mentioned before. I actually saw this outfit on a plus size model and loved how it looked, and that's how today's outfit came about. A note about the model picture-I saw this on the web somewhere, saved it for reference (I have a whole folder on my flash drive called "looks") and now I can't remember where I got it. So if anyone knows where it came from I'll gladly credit it.

you're living all over me...Dino Jr!

So today started off a bit rocky. I didn't sleep well, I couldn't get a good picture of myself, and I missed D because he was back in Georgia for the weekend.

So first, I kept cutting off my feet (and these are the boots I tried wearing to stretch the calves, so yay):
Then I kept lopping off the top of my head:Finally I decided to focus on the awesome tights, which I could actually get a picture of:
Isn't the detailing great? It reminds me of little mountains, although I'm not sure that's what Spanx was going for. It's a miracle I didn't stab my finger through them while I was doing acrobatic maneuvers to get them on...
But my day has gotten much better. Allow me to make an outline (in order of importance of course):

1) D is back :)
2) I got the best compliment ever at work this morning. A woman in the elevator told me that I looked great, like one of those people on "What Not to Wear". She was all "Stacy would love that outfit!" And I sort of shrieked and gushed about how much I enjoy WNTW and how I missed it this past Friday due only to my loss of time-telling skills. Anyway, that made my day. I might start living in this dress. Speaking of which, I debated ordering this dress from AT but they sold out of my size. I'm so glad I waited because I scored it for far less on (wait for it) Ebay! Added bonus-new with tags, originally $116!
3) Eating Five Guys for lunch. So bad, but so so good. :)

blank pages (the album leaf)

I decided to opt out of a dress today and go for the pants that are as comfy as pajamas. Oh pull-on pants, how I love thee.

I'm so happy my hair is finally long enough to wear in a clip. I got a set of these flower clips at Ross or TJ Maxx when I lived in FL and I've gotten a lot of use out of them over the years.

You can't really tell from the picture, but I'm wearing a pair of gray boots. I finally found a pair that I liked. They're the Bates style from Naturalizer. So far they're very comfortable. I wish the toe was a little more pointy but I'll be alright :)

dark purple (nails, that is)

Guess what? Here's another dress I've been saving! I could probably wear a different dress every day for at least 3 weeks before laundry would have to be addressed. And to think I never used to wear dresses...

I haven't worn this bracelet since I first moved up to MD, which was in 2006. How about a story to go with it? After I graduated from college I worked part time at a real estate office, and then in the evenings I worked at an art museum. Specifically, I worked with the traveling King Tut exhibit. Since I actually worked in the gift shop, I admired this bracelet the whole time I worked there. Whenever I would work in the jewelry section I would take one out and wear it, just because I loved it so much. However, the price just couldn't be justified. It was at least $120, and even with our employee discount I couldn't swing it. In the meantime my parents had come to see the exhibit at least 3 times (it was free for family/friends of the employees) and they knew how much I loved the bracelet. So when the exhibit was ending they bought it for me as a surprise. Isn't that just sweet? Sometimes I love my parents :)

all the pretty girls on a saturday night...(fun.)

I love this dress to death, and I have never worn it. It's like I was saving it for a special occasion or something. Well, I guess today is special because D is going home to Georgia for a long weekend. Also, today is when my grandmother finally comes home. She's been living with my aunt for almost a month, and she thinks it's time to be back in her own home. Last reason it's special-they're delivering in front of the garage! The shoes will be miiiiiine!

You know what else I love? These tights. I have been wanting a pair of maroon tights and I couldn't believe they had them in my size at TJ Maxx. The only down side is that if you put them on and they go sideways, the stripes look a little crazy. I put them on last night to see how they would look and the stripes lined up perfectly. I do the same thing this morning and they were spiraling like crazy! Figures.

You know what I don't love? Snow. My love for snow has faded completely. It's way too cold! Immediately after taking these pictures I ran back inside to get bundled up and get in the warm nice car.

and I'm leaning on this broken fence, between past and present tense (the weakerthans)

I've started writing my entry for today and changed it at least 3 times now. I just can't decide what I want to say. Instead of going into my personal life I've chosen to stick with the clothing.

I got this dress from Nordstrom after I saw the below picture set online. I absolutely loved the colors and the way it looked with the slouchy boots. Of course, things look different on real people and I can't seem to like this dress with my own slouchy suede boots, but I'm still happy with the purchase...even if it's slightly more than I would have liked to pay (even on sale).

I started looking for a black wrap top once I got back from FL this past holiday season. My mom had given me one to wear with a dress that I had brought down with me and I ended up liking the look so much that I wanted one of my own. The one I ended up with is a sort of heavy fabric, more like a sweater, and I can't wait to wear it more.

back to the grind.

So hopefully this week will be a normal full 5 day workweek. I never thought I would be excited about that :)

I rediscovered this dress while going through the spare closet and I couldn't be happier. I was looking for another dress and I saw this pattern and though "oh, I looove peacocks" and well, there it was. The downside is that it has this weird piece of fabric that flaps open (sort of like a wrap dress) down the bustline, but I just covered it with a handy black cardigan. I also think it's a tad short for work so I added a black slip dress under it, which you can see in the picture.

Our front porch (see below) is still covered in snow so I've started to send anything I order online to my work address. I'm going to become great friends with our mail delivery guys :)

all fridays all week long...

I think this is the first Friday in a long time that has arrived and I could care less. Probably because I've missed so much work this week. I have decided that if all of my work days could start with me waking up around 9:30am, they would be perfect. Perhaps a memo is in order...Also, all that snow behind me? A total pain in the rear. So I don't wear this star cardigan enough. Actually, this is the first and only time I've worn it. I think it's a funny length but I just couldn't say no to the adorable little stars. Added bonus-It's very soft and comfortable.

Since I've started this blog I've noticed that it's a very "who knows who" type of thing. I haven't made too much of an effort to put my blog out there and get noticed, and I lurk far more than I comment. That being said, I just wanted to give a nice shout out to Lesa over at Lesa's Library. Some of you are probably already familiar with her blog, but if you're not you should stop by and say hi to her. As for myself, I started following Lesa's old fashion blog after she left me a very nice comment (and she lives very close to where I grew up, which is awesome). I'm happy to see that she's keeping her new book blog up and running. So, if you'd like to take a break from all the colorful clothes out there, go check out her blog and leave some comment love. Just try not to get too jealous if you're stuck up north like me, and you know she lives in good old South FL. :)

Tuesdays are the new Mondays...

So I figured I would run into the office for a couple hours, get a couple of things done, and work the rest of the day from home. 5+ hours later and I'm still in my office. Not that I'm complaining. I'm glad I a) have a job to go to and b) got out of the house today. Of course it doesn't look like that will be the case tomorrow (ugh more snow).

If there were a competition for the most snoozetastic outfit, I would enter myself in it today. I was going to wear my lovely maroon boots, but I just got these in the mail and I wanted to stretch out the calves. Because you see, lovely readers, me and my must-be-huge calves don't fit into these boots, even though the website said the calf measurement was more than 15". Hmph. And you know I ordered them on both black and brown, so the cost of return shipping would be too much when you're looking at $27 boots. Seriously-that's cheaper than that seafood for two special at Red Lobster. Mmmmm cheesy biscuits. Sometimes you get what you pay for though. So, that is why I'm wearing boring black boots.

all snowed in...

So I worked from home Friday and it looks like I'll be doing the same tomorrow. Mismatched pjs are what I wore for most of today.

Floridians aren't taught how to handle snow. So I battled ours with a broomstick and flannel pajama pants. Thankfully D did most of the heavy shoveling :)

Hopefully I'll have a real outfit (and a place to go) later this week.

if I could sleep...

I never used to be a "please just 15 more minutes" type of person when it came to waking up for work. I would set the alarm for the last possible minute I could wake up and still make it to work on time. So I would hear the alarm, sigh, and get up to get dressed. Not once in my years was I interested in the snooze button.

Now all that has changed and I have no idea why. If I can eek out an extra 15 minutes I gladly do it. I used to wake up at 6:20 every morning. Now I push it to 7:05 and put in some extra time at work to make up for it. I have also been seriously slacking in putting my outfits together. So I rush to do it in the morning (when I'm already running late) and I'm usually not thrilled with the results. I'd really love to get back into my old routine, but I just feel so blah by the time I get home at night and I push everything off until the next day. *le sigh*

strange bedfellows...

Well, we got some more snow last night so I decided to work from home this morning and go into work later when the roads cleared up and got less trafficky. The plus side is that there's a lot more natural light to take pictures at 11am versus 7:30am. Too bad I can't do this every day :)

I have a hard time with this sweater (no surprise since it's just a different color of this one). I do love it, but I can't help feeling like a linebacker. And actually, I believe this is the first time I've worn it.

The bracelet is part of a set that I have (with a matching necklace and earrings-you just can't see that I'm wearing the earrings today) that I don't wear often enough. Etsy seller Redchair made me the necklace as a custom request (she now sells it in her store), and I later bought the matching bracelet and she threw in the earrings for free. Her jewelry is so beautiful and I have a few other things on my wishlist from her.

I included a picture of my cat because she was mad at me this morning and that's how she said goodbye to me-with her back. I feel bad leaving her all alone all day.

oh be calm...(fun.)

After waking up over an hour late today and feeling pretty shitty about the whole day in general, I'm afraid I've got nothing great to show you outfit-wise. At best I've never paired this sweater with this particular shirt. Perhaps tomorrow will be more inspiring.

I took the second shot to show off the headband that I love but never wear. It makes me feel like I'm all of 8 years old. Other headbands do not seem to have the same effect on me. :)

And, I'm back!

Sorry for being away for a bit. I needed some time to get my stuff back together and recuperate. My grandmother is doing better. After over a week in the hospital and a misdiagnosis involving pneumonia they decided she has had undiagnosed congestive heart failure. So she's on medicine to help regulate things since 90 year olds can't get pacemakers.

I promised myself that in the time I was away from the blog I would take charge of my tripod-using skills. And...well...less than stellar results yes? Seriously, how do you guys do it so well? I'm not going to lie...I have googled these things and it is of no help.

So this past weekend I was in Houston, TX for work. That was exciting, and it's where my first picture is from. Well, technically I was at the house before leaving for the airport. And I'm really only including it because of the cat-in-the-box. But a picture it is. It's also the only picture from this weekend training because a) I didn't take any more and b) I wore the same pants and jacket with a different shirt the whole time. I even managed to fit everything into my carry-on, but of course I had to check it anyway because I put so many liquids in my hair. :)

I'd like to make a note about the jeans. I was browsing through the plus-size selection at nordstrom and saw these jeans on sale. They are by far the most expensive indulgent jeans I've ever bought. And you know what? I really do like the way they fit me. They are incredibly comfortable, they don't dig into my stomach when I'm sitting, they're the right length for flats, and they move with me. So, money well spent imo.

Floral top: Ann Taylor Loft
Jeans: Michael Kors via Nordstrom ($65, January 2010)

And here is what I'm wearing today. I wanted something easy when I was planning this all out last night and I forgot I bought this cardigan so I decided to go with it. I really think it looks a lot better in person. Although those three dark circles makes it look like a small meteor crashed into my stomach, which is quite alright by me. The shoes are the same mary janes that I got in the gray/black color from piperlime, except these are all black and shiny. I love them!

Endnote-I'm glad to start back into the blogging, and I can't wait to be more diligent about leaving comments on all of your blogs. Because I need to do that more often. :)
