ready/not ready

Good morning everyone,

I just wanted to let you all know that I won't be posting any outfit updates this week. I got a bad cold last weekend so I was out sick Monday and Tuesday. Yesterday I went back to work but to be honest, I really didn't care what I looked like and put very little effort into my appearance. Today we're all wearing our kickball shirts (so no picture), and tomorrow I'm getting my wisdom teeth extracted. That's right...After 10+ years of various dentists attempting to convince me that I need to get them taken out, I'm finally taking the plunge. Aaaaaand I'm absolutely terrified. I'm so thankful I have D around to help me out.

I hope you all have a lovely long weekend, and I can't wait to catch up.

i lost my place but i can't stop this story...

Today definitely isn't a photogenic day for me. D and I both got sick over the weekend (I'm guessing it's the flu) and I have a dentist appointment this afternoon to see about getting my wisdom teeth taken out, so I'm really feeling like a load of crap today.

How about some good news? A little while back the beautiful and talented Melody over at Mellow Fashions asked for a link to her readers' plus size blogs, and she put together a list and description of the blogs that were submitted. So if you're looking for some new reading material you can see her list here. Melody also does sketches, and this week she's offering $5 portrait sketches, which you can read about here.*

I hope you all have a great Monday (minus any dentists!)

*Melody did not ask/pay me to write or link her blog. I wrote about her because she's a talented blogger that thoughtfully took the time to put together a very nice set of plus size blog links.

friday has finally arrived..

Another Friday is here and as always, I'm happy to see it. I haven't been sleeping well for the past few days and I feel like it's really taking a toll on my mood and ability to concentrate.

Tonight I'm going out to a bar for one of D's coworkers that is moving back home. I'm looking forward to meeting all of the people I hear about on a daily basis. D's only request was for me to wear something that made "the girls" look big. So I present you all with the easiest dress I own. When I say easiest, I mean I can't style the dress very differently with each wear (the sleeves don't allow for a cardi and the weather is too warm for tights) so I just changed up my jewelry and shoes.

The bag is another recent purchase (last night, actually) and I love the size (and the studs, of course). I've been looking for a studded bag and I actually found two that I really liked (this being one of them) and now I have to decide which one to keep. If you're interested, the other bag is here. Which one would you pick? They were both about the same price (today's outfit bag retails for $88!), and I might convince myself that they're different enough in size and stud pattern to keep both. Bad K, bad....

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Hi all,

I love this outfit, but the shirt is a disappointment. I bought it on ebay and thought the measurements worked out for me, but the shirt is way too short. So I decided to wear it once and resell it (it was already pre-owned). I'm sad about it though because I love the floral pattern and the knot detail.

I finally remembered to include my bag in the outfit shot. I saw it at Target last week and convinced myself out of it, but when I went back to a different Target I decided I really wanted it. Do you all ever find yourselves going back for something you thought you could do without?

So I've been experimenting with eye makeup over the past week. I think you can tell if you enlarge the photos, but I went with a shimmery gray/blue today and I really like it. Outside of my recent love affair with mascara I really don't do much with my eyes because I find myself rubbing them too often. :)

Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful Thursday!

a little too late for pictures...

Hi all,

it's so early, but today is bad already...

(click photos to enlarge)Do you like this look? I call it "WTF is the cat doing?"
Heeey everybody,

It's not even 8:30am yet but I'm ready for today to be over. I forgot my work ID at home, which gets us into the buildings, and I had to convince a random man that I really did work here so I could piggyback on his pass. He kept saying (in a strong accent, possibly Ukranian) "you are a visitor here, no???" Hah yes, I've been visiting for 3 years sir.

Anyhow, tonight D and I are going out to dinner for our anniversary (also because my crappy aunt is coming over for dinner with my grandmother so we decided to play the absentee um, grandchildren.) So I wore my comfortable soft plaid Torrid top. And yes, this is the 3rd color I've worn so far (I didn't get a picture the second time). :)

I hope you all have a lovely day!

The watercolors of your memory...soft salutations to the murk (wintersleep)

(click photo to enlarge)
Good morning all,

So we all made it through a long Friday-Sunday. The meeting downtown went well, the show in Baltimore was great, and I really am too old to be getting home at 2:30am. :) Unfortunately we didn't get any pictures of the show (Wye Oak), but they sounded really good. Also, we won our first kickball game on Thursday! I even caught one of the balls! :)

I'm feeling sort of sloppy with today's outfit. I think it has to do with the white sandals. I don't think I've ever owned white shoes, and I thought they would be perfect for summer. I probably just need to get used to them (and get a pedicure). I will say the sandals are insanely comfortable. I never knew Target shoes could have so much cushioning! If you're interested, they're here.

I hope you all have a great Monday!

Our first kickball game is today, and we were supposed to wear our team shirt. I chose to wear our team color instead (purple) because the shirts aren't very comfortable, and I've been wanting to wear this shirt all week. I'm sure my team mates will give me a hard time (everyone is a bit, um, enthusiastic) but oh well. I'm still not sure about these skinny jeans. I feel good in them until I look at the pictures and it's like "Bam! Thighs!" :)

I probably won't have time for a picture tomorrow because I have to be up at 5am to take the metro into the city for an all day meeting with the Dept of Ed. So if I don't update tomorrow, I hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Grab On to Me Tightly as if I Knew the Way

(click photos to enlarge)
Good morning all,

After telling myself that I am not buying anything else until my next paycheck (I went on a bit of a shoe binge last week...and um, yesterday) I just found out that Daria is on sale for a great price on amazon. Aggghhh! *Update-The fabulous boyfriend has just bought it for me. Woohoo!!!!!

Anyway, I got this dress back in December and I have no idea why I waited so long to wear it. I love the pattern. It's like a cross between a giraffe and the matrix, no? Also, I don't wear this necklace enough. Ann Taylor used to make the most beautiful multistrand necklaces back in '07 and '08 and for whatever reason they don't anymore. I own at least 4 of these necklaces (in different styles/stones) and everyone at work always loves them. Unfortunately, they're all set in gold and I usually wear silver. I know you can mix, but I'm still not used to it :)

I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday! I know mine will be caffeine-driven :)

There's no promise of safety with these secondhand wings but I'm willing to find out what impossible means...

Today I'm pretty much a walking advertisement for Ann Taylor & Co, which I have mixed feelings about. I had a different outfit picked out last night but I'm having some foot issues that require open-toed shoes, so I grabbed my comfy jeans and threw on the shirt and jewelry before realizing they're all from the same place. :) I actually didn't mean to cut off my shoes but I really didn't have time to take a bunch of pics this morning, so if you're interested I'm wearing these.

I hope you all have a great day!

Happy Monday all!

Today's outfit makes me feel quite fabulous. Last week Kimberly over at Fab Finds Under $50 wore this outfit and it made me wish I had a lowcut maxi dress since I have the same exact top. Then I realized that this blue sundress would work perfectly because it's just a little bit too low in the front. :) I threw on my coral belt because I love the combo of navy with coral (and this dress needs some shape) and like I said, I'm very happy with the end result. Do you all have any favorite color combos?

Also, I have to tell you all that I stalked this dress online. No joke! Sometimes I find something on ON's website and they're out of my size, so I'll favorite it and see if it pops back up. Well, in this case I already had the coral and floral dress in this style, and the navy one kept popping up in larger sizes so I kept checking, and checking, and finally I was victorious :)

Oh Friday, I'm so happy to see you again. I think I should start calling Friday "new dress day" for obvious reasons. I got this dress when Avenue had a great sale going ($10 or $20, I forget, off each dress plus another percent off coupon), which made the price much more reasonable than the original retail price. I loooove the colors and it's so easy to just throw a black cardigan on and call it a day. Oh, and this black cardigan? Totally the same style as yesterday. Don't judge. :)

I hope you all have a great Friday!

Hi all,

Right before the colder weather came along last year I found this dress on clearance at Target and decided that even though I wouldn't be able to wear it for 6 months I would put it aside for the warmer months. It's a very light knit and I love the little polka dots. :) I recently bought the cardigan during Ann Taylor Loft's 40% sale and I won't lie, I got it in at least 3 other colors. It also figures that my first purchase in May would be a bunch of cardigans. Do you all love cardigans? I couldn't live without them (obviously).

One more day until freedom!

the tension and the terror...

(click photo to enlarge)Good morning,

This week has been passing soooo slowly. I was looking forward to Lost last night and it has to be one of the most depressing episodes I've seen. For some reason I think a sad Lost makes the week go by more slowly. Good thing there are Buffy reruns every day to distract me. :)

When I first started this blog one of my goals was to mix up my outfits and not wear the same combination over and over again. Well, that failed today. Mostly because a) I'm still working on how to change things and b) some outfits are just really comfortable and I don't want to change them. I mean, I love this striped top under the cardigan, and it's probably something I'll repeat more than twice. So hopefully you all don't mind :)

I hope everyone's Wednesday goes well!

rings and pearls and everything nice...

Good morning,

In my smoothest move today (so far) I accidentally deleted all of my pictures so it took me a while to figure out how to recover them from my flash drive. Grrrr.

Jewelry is the theme today...Can you tell? I found a retired Stella & Dot stylist through craigslist and bought this beautiful necklace for 50% off the retail price. Then I found these two rings being sold in Friday's Fatshionista sales post and I fell in love. Good thing it all goes with today's outfit. :)

Before I go I just want to point out that I'm mixing patterns with my animal print belt and the floral cardigan. Baby steps, I know.

I hope you all have a great Tuesday!

Good morning all,

We're in the midst of a huge rainstorm so I didn't take any pictures today. But fear not-I'm wearing almost exactly the same outfit as I wore on August 18, 2009. I wouldn't want to keep you all hanging :) I did change up my bracelets (crazy, I know) because I just had to wear this new one today. I got it when ATL was having their 30% off Friends & Family sale and I just love the colors. It looks like it's currently sold out, so I'm glad I didn't wait for it to go on sale.

Over the weekend we took my grandmother up to a neighboring county and took pictures at a scenic stop off of the highway. Then we went to Perkins for lunch, which was great because I haven't had Perkins since sophomore year of college.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend!
