an outfit made up of new stuffy stuff!

Good morning everyone,

So how was your weekend? I got to hang out with my friend for a few hours on Saturday night, and we even got some photographic evidence! We ended up eating at the Rusty Scupper on the (Baltimore) harbor, and the view was beautiful. I also enjoyed the best fried oysters I have ever tasted in my life.

But now we're on to another week. And today is going to be better than last Monday, I can just feel it. It helps that I'm wearing actual shoes (not that flats aren't shoes, but when you can fit a sock over your foot in 20 degree weather life gets better).

Speaking of feet, my own foot is healing quite nicely. To those of you inquiring about it-thank you so much. I'm told by professionals that the wound should be healed up within two weeks, and perhaps there will be some scarring. I was also told to get a flu shot, which puts me at a total of two shots in one week! I know, I'm a wuss. But I hate needles. So, yay for being an adult and all the crap that comes with it. When I was younger my mom used to trick me into going to the doctor by not telling me until we were actually there. She'd lure me in with the promise of fast food (it was a rare "treat" during my teenage years) and then *bam* we'd be at the doctor's office and she'd be exclaiming "it's only going to take a minute, it's going to be alright now get out of the car..." It took me a long time to disassociate a fish fillet with dreaded doctor visits.

On a happier note-how fantastic is that bag? Originally $198, it was on sale for $77ish and with an extra 10% off and $40 in rewards coupons I got it for $32! I've been looking for a nice professional cross-body bag and this one is more narrow than I'm used to, but otherwise perfect. The rest of my outfit is actually new as well, even though I bought the items last year and just haven't worn them until today. That's one of my new year's deals-wear what you have or donate/sell it.

Happy Monday to you all!

oh the weather outside (really is) frightful...

Hi all,

It's been a strange couple of days. Tuesday I ended up making an emergency doctor visit because the wound on my foot had become very swollen and discolored. One hour and a tetanus shot later I was back at work taking medicine and preparing for our big snow storm that swept through Wednesday into Thursday. I worked from home for the past two days and to say I got dressed would be generous. D actually slept in my office Wednesday night because he couldn't make it home. If you're interested in a really seeing the snow click on any of the pictures to enlarge!

Today most of us are back at work and I thought now would be a good time to show off my new jacket. :) Of course I managed to do some online shopping over the past couple of days...I even have a new favorite retailer: Coldwater Creek. I'll get more into why I like them so much later :)

(recognize this? it's where I usually take my outfit photos!)

So, any weekend plans? My bestie from FL is in town (sort of; she's visiting her fiance in PA and that's a lot closer to me than FL) and we're hoping to get together this weekend. I hope you all have a good one!

Monday Mondaaaay...

Hi all,

Guess who's back? (me) Did you all have a good weekend? I had such wonderful plans, but Friday was spent at home, Saturday we went grocery shopping, and Sunday we lived through a trip to Target. Seriously, I am the most exciting person around!

We were supposed to go see a band I like (The Dismemberment Plan) on Saturday in DC, but the person selling us the tickets was a little wishy washy, and we ended up calling it off. I'm actually glad we didn't go because A) it was 11 degrees or something, and B) the trip to the grocery store put my foot in so much pain that I had to stay off of it for the rest of the night. So I don't think standing around the 9:30 club would really have gone well.

Speaking off stupid non-working feet, thanks so much for all of your nice uplifting thoughts on Thursday. My fingers are healing up more quickly than I expected, but my foot is definitely still on the mend. If I'm still in this much pain 2 days from now I'll go get some x-rays just to make sure there aren't any bone fragments floating around (or something). It's killing me not to wear boots in this weather. I can't fit my foot into any of them! Maybe later this week will be better...

So how about some outfit details?

So, I had a little accident...

Ok you guys...I'm really embarrassed. Yesterday after work I went to Target with a friend, and as I was walking into the elevator when the doors shut on me. And kept shutting instead of popping back open. So I went to move out of the doorway and I slipped on the metal part of the elevator (where the doors close) and flew backwards. I put my arms out to try and catch my fall but the only thing I caught on to was the lip of the elevator door, which proceeded to flay the skin off of two of my fingers. I also managed to land on my foot in such a way that it's all torn up and likely sprained. There was blood everywhere. Of course I couldn't immediately get up so I actually slid on my back into the elevator so I could grab on to the railing on the wall and pull myself up, and I left a lovely blood trail from the elevator to my car.

The whole point of telling you all this is-no outfit posts for the rest of the week. I'm at work today thanks to my wonderful boyfriend (who drove and escorted me to my office) and tomorrow I'm working from home. But I promise to be back in full force next week. I have some kick-ass clothing to show off.

Happy early weekend!

clearly I am in denial...

Good afternoon ladies (and possible gentlemen),

I just realized that I've been saving all of my photos as '10 instead of '11. We're almost through January. You think I would have gotten the hang of dating my photos by now. At least I haven't signed anything important with the wrong date (only because I haven't actually had to sign anything).

Anyway, yesterday was a late work day for me and it looks like today and tomorrow will follow the same routine. Perhaps that's why the bags under my eyes are so wonderfully defined, eh? I hope you all are having a good week!

Sneaky evil ice

Hi all,

Want to hear about how I'm a crazy silly Floridian at heart? I walked out to take today's pictures and saw what I thought was snow on the walkway. No biggie-I have my boots and they'll look fine in the snow for the photo. Well, I went to walk down the steps and went flying because what I thought was snow was actually ice. Sneaky sneaky ice! It sure looked like snow to me...I think there was a layer of ice over some snow, but let me tell you it didn't crack or budge a bit when I went flying across it. Hmph. So I'm sorry my feet are cut off in this one photo, but I wasn't about to walk up and down the steps to adjust the tripod for multiple shots. My bones can only take so much.

On a completely unrelated note-I have a very hard time styling this dress. Hmph. Also, I think I wore this necklace to my senior prom. I can't believe it's still around!

I hope you all are having a lovely Tuesday!

Monday suede shoes and snow...

Good morning everyone,

I hope you all had a lovely weekend. In fact I think some of you are probably still enjoying a long weekend. I'm attempting not to be too jealous as I sit here in my office procrastinating just a little while longer.
(these are today's earrings. photo credit)

Our snow is slowly receding, and the UPS man helpfully left large footprints in the remaining snow so I just attempted to step into them for today's photos. Of course I didn't put any shoe protector stuff on the suede shoes, so I was extra paranoid of getting them wet (or falling..that would be bad too).

Happy MLK Monday!

we have a winner!

Hi all,

I'm relieved to say that today is going much better than yesterday. My extended family hasn't been around in a whole 24 hours and things are deceptively calm. I'll take what I can get :)
So how about announcing the winner of the scarf? Congrats to Maggie, lucky commenter #4! So Maggie, email me: yourlastapology (at) gmail (dot) com. Once you give me your details I'll get your goodies out to you. Thanks so much to everyone that entered! Now I'll have to think of something else for next time :)

Do you all have plans for the weekend? I ordered my 4th set of "clutter free" hangers from QVC. They're pretty amazing because you can hang them from one another, and they're slim. Not to mention you get a lot for the price. Clearly I'm trying to make the most of my overstuffed closet. Anyway, the hangers should be here today and I'm hoping to finish reorganizing all of my tops and cardigans. I have a normal (small) closet and a quarter of the right side is dedicated to my cardigan collection. Yes, I have a problem. I'm even ordering them by color (ROYGBIV).

I also plan on catching up in blogger world. I have all my favorites bookmarked (call me old fashioned but I don't follow anyone, I just have a folder in my bookmarks) and I usually check the blogs during my lunch, but I'm going to export my folder to my home computer so I can catch up over the weekend. I feel like I've been missing out on to much inspiration out there.

Whatever your plans are, I hope you all have a great weekend!

Another day of phoning it in...

Hi all,

I've had a rough couple of days. Sometimes family problems just seem like they'll never go away. I figured wearing the traveling scarf may help improve my mood.

Don't forget to enter my giveaway! There are only 3 people entered so far, so your chances are great! Seriously, what are you waiting for? It ends tonight!

I hope you all are having a good Thursday. I'm feeling (not so) adorable so I'll leave you with a much cuter cat picture. I bought Katy a cat bed...

And I had to force her into it (hah try forcing a cat to do anything). I've already returned it, and when the cashier asked if there was something wrong with the bed I replied "No, my cat is just an asshole."

(she reminds me of a the rescue...yeah...)

frumpy tuesday

(sorry for my half-assed smile)

Hi all,

I had another rushed morning. I was hoping for snow so I could work from home, but it looks like the snow won't hit us until tonight and I was left not knowing what to wear. After seeing today's photos I think I'll put this sweater in the ebay pile. At least the scarf is cute! My grandmother liked it so much that D bought her the same one for Christmas :)

I hope you all have a good Tuesday! Don't forget to enter the contest (click here).

Monday = contests and joy division dresses!

Happy Monday all,

So why is this Monday so great? Half of the greatness is this dress. It was a christmas gift from D and I wanted it because it reminds me of the Joy Division cd cover pictured above. How great is that?

If that's not great enough for your Monday, how about a contest? Up for grabs is your very own *drumroll*.....scarf! Yeah, I'm not Oprah so the prize couldn't be that huge. But I've been known to throw in random goodies when I mail packages. And everyone needs another scarf. Even you Florida people!

I tried my best Vanna White impression while showing off the scarf, which only resulted in my neighbors looking at me like I was crazy while they were out walking the dog (also...lacking sanity for standing out in 20 degree weather without a jacket). I got so cold I had to put the scarf on. But I promise it's new outside of this one photo session, and if you can't see the details it's a lovely crinkle style with shades of green and blue.

So, you have two ways to win (each worth one, um, point):

1) Leave a comment on this post.

2) Blog about this contest on your own blog, then comment here with a link to the post..

If you do both of those things (make sure to leave two separate comments if you do) you'll double your chances of winning! The contest will end at midnight on Thursday, January 13. I'll draw a winner using on Friday, January 14. International readers are more than welcome to enter.

Now on to the outfit details:

Dress: Macy's/Gifted (December 2010)

Hi all,

Sorry for the late update. I didn't have a chance to take my photos this morning so I had to wait until I got home from work. I'm happy it was still light outside :)

Do you all have any plans for the weekend? I think we're going to stay low and recoup. D thinks he's getting a cold so I'll probably quarantine myself from him and hope for the best.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

attempting to cut back...

Good afternoon all,

Did anyone watch Tuesday's What Not to Wear? I was happy they finally had someone that was likeable (the last two were hard for me to watch for some reason) and thankfully she really wanted to be there. While they were throwing away her clothes they brought out a pair of black pants, which the girl was trying to pass off as work pants. Stacy and Clinton pointed out that anything that doesn't have buttons or a zipper is not considered a work pant. Well, I think they're wrong, because my amazing pull-on pants don't fall into their definition of work pants, but no one's kicked me out of my office yet. At least they don't have a drawstring waist (although I wouldn't be opposed to that either) :)

I hope you all have a lovely Thursday!

leopards and flowers and neutrals, oh my!

(I can't figure out what to do with my hands; click to enlarge)

Good morning everyone,

I don't have much time to "talk" so I just wanted to say hi and get my pictures up. I cleaned out both of my closets last night and in the process I made today's outfit (and I doubled my ebay pile...just when I thought I was making process too hehe). I feel much better now that I can see everything. It makes it so much easier to plan outfits when you know what you're working with, right?

Also, I wanted to mention that I'm planning my first giveaway! So stay tuned :)

I hope you all have a lovely hump day!

great pants and my tablecloth top.

(truth-this picture has been lightened)

Hey all,

This has been said before, but damn I love these pants! I'm wearing my second pair of them today :) The new shoes, however, are killing me. They're just pointy enough to crush the life out of my pinky toes, so I brought a pair of red flats to work as a backup.

So how about a story about this dress/shirt? I promise it won't be long. Hopefully I haven't told it already. So this dress-I saw it at Ann Taylor Loft (of course) many moons ago while I was out shopping with a friend. I picked it off the rack and looked over at my friend to ask her opinion. Her face was all contorted, as if she had stepped in shit. I insisted on trying it on, and she just made fun of me and said it looked like I was wearing a giant tablecloth. Because the dress wasn't on sale, and I didn't want anyone to start setting glasses or utensils on me, I put it back on the rack. Months later I was at a different ATL with my boyfriend and I saw the dress on clearance for $6. In petites. So I bought it, thinking a shorter length would be less tablecloth-like, and I still love it. And that's the story of the tablecloth dress (but I can only wear it as a shirt at work...damn petites heh).

Happy Tuesday all!

happy (oh crap) it's 2011!

Good morning all,

How did new year's go for you all? I managed to have a terrible fight with my miserable aunt (I have two aunts in the area, one awesome, one not-so-awesome aka miserable) but D and myself managed to have a nice evening in the end. We just stayed in, watching crappy movies, and ate good food. I couldn't have asked for more.

(I wanted to show you that my hair looks a lot better after it dries)
To start off our new year right we went out to the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore. They had some neat exhibits, but I fell in love with the gift shop. They had so many amazing things, and they were all super cheap! D bought me a "Day of the Dead" marriage couple (I have a small collection of DOTD stuff) and I bought him a few books he's been wanting. Then we had a lovely lunchish/dinner and looked forward to another day off.

Did you all do anything exciting? Or not exciting? I'm open to hearing about all of it :)

Happy Monday (and new year!)
