Hi everyone,

Holy batman am I happy that it's the end of the week. I'm taking off two days next week to move and go to the dentist (bleck) but I'm looking forward to being unchained from the good 'ol desk. I'm also anxious to figure out where to take photos in the new place :) I'm thinking the balcony would be an obvious choice. It helps that it's the one place that doesn't have clutter everywhere at the moment :)

By the way, how perfectly does this bracelet match the dress?  I rediscovered some of the things I bought in Mexico a few years ago and I couldn't resist wearing the bracelet with today's dress :)

leggings anyone?

I just have to take a moment to talk about how awesome these $6 leggings are to me. I got them at Forever 21 (online via their plus size line) and I just figured I'd wear them as tights with boots or something. They're surprisingly comfortable and haven't stretched out (yet). I'm sad to say I was less successful in the shoe department this morning. When I went to put on my  leather boots I couldn't fit my fat swollen ankle into them (it's raining so I didn't want to wear the suede ones). So I had to go with flats because the rest of my shoes are packed up already. And my leg is aching something fierce today! I think it's the cooler weather combined with the rain. I did manage to drive to work again though, which makes me very happy.

Oh, and here is a close up with the new Nars orgasm blush. I'm not sure why I look all shiny. It doesn't look as colorful in person (I think). What blush do you all use?

It wasn't until I started boxing up all my clothes that I realized how many leopard print dresses I own. I think this might be the 5th one! I bought this at Ann Taylor Loft in April or May and totally forgot about it. When I saw it crammed in my closet I was pleasantly surprised. Don't you love it when that happens? Or maybe everyone else has super organized closets. :)

Completely unrelated, but I tried Nars blush for the first time today. Sephora is having their friends & family discount so I figured I'd finally try it out. It got the boyfriend stamp of approval, but I'm not totally sold on it. I think I'm just not used to wearing blush. We'll give it a week and see if I change my mind.

 Hi all,

Another day another dress, right? I wouldn't want to disappoint! I'm debating packing all of my pants up for the move since they're not getting much wear at this point. It's hard to believe that this time next week we'll be completely moved out. Deep breaths, I keep reminding myself...I was so distracted this morning that I forgot to put on earrings. And heck, I'm not sure this belt matches, or even goes with this dress. I wish I could just snap my fingers and *poof* have everything moved out. That would solve all of my problems, right? Hah, yes!

Good morning everyone,

My doctor visit went well last week. She gave me an ankle brace/splint to start wearing instead of the bulky boot, but I haven't been able to find a pair of shoes that can fit my swollen ankle plus the brace. So I brought the walking boot with me to work just in case I need it. But I limped in with two actual shoes (and my crutch)! I figure since I'm sitting most of the day (with my leg propped up and iced) getting into my office without any support wouldn't hurt it too much. Now my next appointment isn't until December and there's a chance that it will be my last visit. Woohoo!!!! I can't wait to put this whole thing behind me.

a summer dress in cooler weather

Before I broke my leg made a few orders with Talbots during their Red Hanger sale. Talbots is completely new to me. I always lumped it with places like Chico's-more for the mature older woman. But in the last year or two Talbots has revamped their style and I'm loving waaay too many things. So when they had their extra 50% off Red Hanger sale I decided to try them out. I bought this dress in both colors (navy stripe and the brown stripe pictured here), and then in a solid dark green and a solid navy. You all know I'm a sucker for a dress with pockets :) And at $30, it was a steal! During the summer I had planned to wear it with metallic sandals and a light belt, but since I missed out on that I decided to wear it with boots and a heavier belt instead. Good thing I have these boots in 3 colors (yes, I have issues).

Hello Tuesday.

I had a tough time picking an outfit last night. I was so damn tired that I just couldn't think of anything so I decided to wear the same boot/necklace/belt combo I've been wearing. Sometimes easy is just better. I did add a cute multicolored scarab bracelet and a pair of gold Greek earrings that I inherited from my grandmother. I've been trying to wear at least one piece of her jewelry every day. It makes me feel like she's still close, somehow.

So back to the dress....I actually own this dress in two different sizes. I have one in my "sell on ebay" pile. While my mom was helping us move stuff to the apartment she came across the smaller dress and tried it on. I thought she looked stunning, but she decided the sleeve length was too long for the Florida heat and the deep v-neck was too much for someone of her age. When I told her she could wear a tank under it she just laughed at the idea of layering in Florida. I lived there for most of my life and I wore tanks under v-necks in the heat. But oh well. Have I mentioned that I have at least 5 trash bags of things to sell on ebay? I'm going to be busy once we finally get settled in to our new place.

minutes ticking by...

Good afternoon,

How was your weekend? We've managed to move some more stuff into our new place but I feel like I haven't made much of a dent with the stuff in my room. I did manage to pack up all of my skirts (two whole boxes!) so at least that's been done. I really have to tackle my monster shoe collection though. This would be so much easier if I could drive (and carry boxes up stairs, hah).

Speaking of shoes, I figured I'd wear these boots since they sort of match my walking boot better than a pair of flats. If you've had enough to drink and/or have vision difficulties it could even pass for the same shoes! Ok, maybe not. I can't wait until I can walk without this bulky thing. Hopefully that's what I'll be told at my next checkup on Friday.

Hi all,

What a long week! I hope to make it through at least 3 days of in-office work next week. I'm thankful for having the option of working at home, but I would really rather be at the office. It's too upsetting to be alone in a house where I'm constantly looking for someone I'm not going to find. I mean, I don't believe in ghosts or spirits, but I feel like there's something or someone missing while I'm in my grandmother's house. I'll be thankful when we're finally moved in to our new place (November 1!) Maybe then I can start to really get over everything.

Moving on-I decided to straighten my hair and of course it was raining this morning. Thankfully it had quieted down by the time we got to work. I had my hair cut right before returning to work this week and the stylist thinned out my hair a lot, which allowed me to wear it back with just a bobby pin and a barrette.

Do you all have any plans this weekend? We'll just be moving more boxes to the condo and relaxing. I hope you all have a good one!

Hi all,

I was so sore after my first day of work that I decided to work from home yesterday and tomorrow. But today I actually had to get dressed. I love the pattern on this dress (although it may not be for everyone) and I felt very seasonally appropriate. Fall is definitely my favorite time of year.And how cute are these earrings? My mom bought them for me during my first week of recovery, and I've been looking forward to wearing them out.

First day back at work...

Hi all,

I'm about halfway through my first day back at work and I am exhausted! Everyone has been incredibly nice and accommodating so far. My secretary keeps stopping by to see if I need her to walk anywhere for me, and I've talked to more people today than I have during my whole 4 year career here. Apparently my dress was a hit as well. I'm not sure what they were expecting me to wear (pajamas maybe) but someone came down just to see the fabulous dress she heard I'm wearing. I work with some strange (but kind) folks :)

These shoes weren't my first choice but somehow the ones I had in mind have already been moved to the condo. Have I mentioned that we're moving? So many things to do!

So how is your day going? If you have the day off I hope you enjoy it! I'm ready to get back in bed :)

finally, an update!

Hi all,

I figured it's about time to write a leg update. I went back to the doctor on the 21st of August, and we finally saw some bone growth in the x-rays. I've been cleared to bear full weight on my bad leg, and I have to wear a cushioned boot while I'm "walking" for the next month. In reality I'm not walking as much as shuffling. I still have to use the walker in the morning because my leg muscles are so stiff (but at least they're coming back). At my best, I can shuffle around without the crutches or the walker while wearing the boot. But not for any great distance.

Some days I feel better than others, but I guess that's the case with anyone. My leg gets very sore after I do any "walking" and I can feel the screws that they put into my ankle. I know it's vain, but my legs used to be my favorite body part. Now I'm trying to deal with the fact that I'll have four very visible scars for the rest of my life.

As far as the blog goes, I plan on updating with pictures once I go back to work. Believe it or not I'm going back to work this Monday (no, we don't have off). So I'll finally  have a reason to get dressed. Part of me is excited but more of me is anxious about the whole thing. Guess we'll just have to wait and see how it goes.
