Good evening everyone,

I was not feeling fashionable or photo friendly today. I never feel quite like myself when my hair is pulled back. Does that seem unreasonable? In middle school I never wore my hair up. There was a group of boys that called me "goofy" because they said my ears stuck out too much. Why were they so focused on my ears, anyway? Ears aside, I just think having my hair pulled back this tight isn't very flattering. But since I have such curly hair I can't just pull it up after a day of wearing it curly. I have to wash it and then pull it back, resulting in this harsher look. TMI? Probably. Still with me? Hello? I'm going to go buy a wig....

How was your weekend? My Red Lobster night out was scrumptious :) We went to Ross after dinner and I scored a lovely green purse ($34.99!). My friend seemed surprised that I wanted a purse in a color other than black. She should see my collection :) To my credit I did try to convince myself out of the purse while I was in line but then I noticed it came with an umbrella, and that just delighted me to no end. It's the little things that get me :)

My parents always seem to scoff at RL (to their credit they are food snobs) and while it's not my favorite chain restaurant, I do love their food. Hi all,

Today's dress is another one of my Florida finds. Today I wanted a no-fuss easy outfit, and I immediately thought of this new purchase. About a month ago I saw this dress on Ideeli, but I had previously bought a dress by the same designer and I had to go up 2 sizes, so I didn't want to buy it online and have the same problem (not to mention paying $10 for shipping. Ugh Ideeli, don't get me started). When I saw it in Florida I knew I had to at least try it on. And guess what-it's a size smaller than I normally get! I really hate how inconsistent and wonky sizing can be these days. But anyway, the dress was less expensive and I got to see it in-person, so win win for me!

Do you all have better luck shopping when you're traveling? I'm convinced I only have better luck because I have to stuff everything into a suitcase (or two, thanks SouthWest) on my way back.

D had to dress "up" for work today ("up" meaning no jeans), and he kindly let me turn the camera on him. Doesn't he look spiffy? My man is mixing colors and patterns (brown/black and the different stripes on the shirt/pants). I approve :)

Good afternoon all,

I'm making an effort to update every day this week. Of course now that I said that I probably jinxed myself, but for now daily posting is my February resolution.

My other resolution is to quit buying multiples! Ok, not really because you know I couldn't possibly achieve that goal. I have this skirt in 4 colors. Who possibly needs 4 pleated skirts? Hi, that's me. I got them on clearance (plus an additional 40% off) so they ended up costing me about $25 each. Cost aside, I might have issues :)

So how is your Wednesday going? Does it feel like the middle of the week? It's still unseasonably warm here (hence the bare legs again) and I'm loving it.

I also love that I used a paper clip to show off these earrings. I couldn't find anything else to hang them on ;)

Good afternoon everyone,

I got back from FL on Saturday and I took Monday off so I could catch up on everything I missed over the past week. The weather in FL was sunny and clear every day. It rained once, but I was taking a nap :) The weather here is in the 60's today so I decided to go bare-legged and show off my new Coach flats.

So let me take a moment to honor these shoes. They were a whopping 80% off at my mom's local DSW. I feel like they were molded just for my feet! And I couldn't say no to the shiny black patent color. So for $30 a pair of Coach flats became mine! We did some other shopping as well (too much, but it all fit in my suitcase for the return flight) and I got some great buys at the Talbots outlet and Ross. The south Florida Ross stores have such a huge selection of plus sizes! I dragged my mom to every location near her :) I got a Jones NY dress for $13 (originally $144), another for $40 (which I might return), and 2 dresses that were featured on Ideeli recently (both under $30). My mom kept asking why I needed so many dresses. Need, haha! She's funny.

I also want to mention that I sat out in the sun for 45 minutes and I'm now peeling. I went for a pedicure/eyebrow wax (in FL) and the woman was asking where I lived. When I told her up north she said "No wonder you're so pale! So see-through!" Lovely, right?

So how was your week? Are you ready for February? I'm not, but it's barreling towards us at a slightly alarming rate.

Hey, remember this dress? Here it is in one of the solid colors! You know I can't resist a dress with pockets. In fact I forgot this had pockets until this afternoon and I was way too excited over my rediscovery. I find this dress a little hard to style because it runs big, and with the draping at the top I need something to accentuate my waist. I could try wearing a top under it but the dress is a jersey knit and it shows every single wrinkle and lump. Maybe I could do a button-down shirt just to vary it up a tad. Crazy, I know.

Also crazy (or just embarrassing)-I walked in to work with my dress tucked into my tights this morning (in the back, obviously. Fortunately I had on a long coat, but there was a moment of panic where I thought "SHIIIT have I taken off this coat at all between the house and work???" Lucky for me (and the rest of the population) the answer is no.

Good afternoon ladies,

This dress was my original pick for the black and white theme last week but I traded it at the last minute. I ordered one size down but the top still tends to bunch up. I love the stripes though :)

It's hard for me to believe, but I leave for Ft. Lauderdale this Saturday and I have a million things to do before then. I'm completely torn on what to pack since my footwear is so limited (must be flat, comfortable, and able to withstand Florida temps) which means my go-to boots are out.

Speaking of boots, in an attempt to organize myself this weekend I went through all of my knee-high boots and tried them on to see if they still fit. I can't zipper most of them up even halfway. I'm pretty upset about it considering I've paid a lot of money to have most of my boots stretched over the past couple years. I guess my right calf is more swollen than I give it credit for. So I'm going to hang on to my favorites for at least a year (which is when my leg should be back to "normal") and sell the others. Boo hiss! I know there are far worse problems to have out, but it's just on my mind.

Good afternoon everyone,

After Tuesday's EBEW Black and White theme and yesterday's (no photos) black top with jeans I wanted to get back to wearing colors. We had a big meeting today and I knew I would be talking in front of my peers so I wanted to wear something nice. This skirt was another of my great Talbots finds. :)

As you can see I also got a haircut. I asked my stylist to straighten it for me so I could sleep in a little longer for the following 2 mornings. When I wear my hair curly I have to wash it beforehand and it feels so great to get out of bed and just have to do some touch ups with the straightening iron. Hopefully I can make this last one more day :)

Then I had an additional code that got me another 40% off. Add free shipping and they really got me. So I bought this beautiful cheetah dress for under $30 (originally 169!). It's tough for me to remember to write 2012 on everything. Each year I feel like I've just mastered the art of writing the correct year and then *bam*, switch again! So how was your NYE? We stayed in, someone fell asleep around 8:30pm and I stayed up to watch 30 Rock. I think I'm still on Season 4, hah. I'm going to call it a tradition (to watch 30 Rock on NYE) since I've been "catching up" for 3 years now. We don't have cable, and even if we did I wouldn't remember to keep up with the weekly schedule. I'm so thankful for Netflix :)

So a lot of people must have skipped work yesterday (the drive and parking were easier than normal) and I had on a totally rockin' outfit, but I lost my photographer. So it's like the outfit never happened, right? Right! Must wear it again...

Moving on to today's outfit-this is the other wool skirt I got from Talbot's. Again with the wrinkles, but with wool I guess that happens. And I wanted to switch out my flats for my often-worn black boots but I was too lazy to go back upstairs so my legs froze. It was 16 degrees out this morning! Brrrrrr!

Good morning everyone,

Leggings trumped my jeans this morning. I figured I could get away with a shorter dress since no one would be around to see it. Of course I've already run into more people today than I saw yesterday but I think there are just more people in my office building. Besides, I'm meeting up with some girlfriends for drinks and gift exchanging tonight and I wanted to look decent :)

Do you all have any new year's eve plans? I have to get some more dental work done on Monday so I'm dreading the end of the weekend. I don't usually go out for new year's; the city is too stressful to navigate and I always get anxious with the whole countdown process. I'd say I didn't do much for the first 6 months of 2011 but after that my life exploded with change and I'm still working through all of the pieces.

That being said, I hope this next year is a little more positive and calm. I'll take nice and calm any day...Happy New Year everyone!

Hi everyone,

So here is what I wore yesterday. Let it be noted that I didn't feel nearly as dumpy as I look in this photo. My tights had an adorable criss-cross pattern on them, and I thought the top looked good with the black pencil skirt. No one is in the office this week so it's hard for me to get dressed "nicely" for work. Tomorrow will likely be a complete ghost town! Today and tomorrow will be be jeans days. Yeah, I'm not taking any time off, but I did purchase my plane ticket for Florida today. Woohoo! I need some sun and fresh air :)

And before I forget-I had my last doctor visit last week and my leg has been declared fully healed! That's two whole months ahead of schedule!! There will still be some swelling/bruising/aching but as far as the actual bones-they have finally knitted together. July feels like it was a million years ago.

Not that plaid is particularly funky, but I paired it with a leopard dress and thought it looked interesting. I don't know what made me think leopard would go with them considering I started out with a plain black dress. Added bonus-I managed to stick my finger through the tights when I was putting them on and I'm hoping they'll last through the evening. Fingers crossed!

Speaking of fingers, check out my new ring! My coworker/friend bought it for me for x-mas. I love it! She also bought me the adorable Captain Kirk doll. I do love me some Trek. I only wish they had a Picard one.

holiday tights and a festive house tour

(I'm not crazy, just tired)

I think this time of year is the only time I feel comfortable wearing red tights. We finally finished decorating the tree and wrapping the presents and I guess I was feeling festive. I even broke out my OPI nail red glitter polish. I layered it over a gray color so the red would match my tights. As you can see, I'm not a pro at doing my nails. )

So I thought I would share a few photos to show how we decorated for our first holiday in the new place. On the tree I used ornaments that my grandmother made many years ago. She would order these kits with her coworkers and they would make these gorgeous Christmas decorations. When my aunt offered to let me take some I knew I would enjoy using them on our new tree. We don't have a tree topper yet so I threw up a plush reindeer that D gave me early on in our relationship.

Remember when I said I ran out of gold garland? Well I found another strand of it when I was going through the ornaments, but I had already finished the tree. So I stuck a couple spare ornaments in a goblet with the garland and called it a centerpiece.

I also inherited an adorable wooden reindeer from my grandmother, but the antlers didn't survive the move. Fortunately my mom has the same exact reindeer so she's going to give me hers :) For now I'm trying to hide the head in the branches. Classy, I know.

Hi all,

Today's clothing is a consequence of not picking out an outfit in advance. It's brown and not so holiday-ish, but I don't mind. The boots are a dark chocolate version of the black ones I've been wearing to death lately. Oddly enough the brown ones were tighter at the calf, but they are stretching with wear.

Despite running a little late from finding an outfit this morning I've felt better today than I have in a very long time. Although my leg is aching I feel like I'm walking much more normally than I was even a day ago. I even took 3 flights of stairs at work! Granted it took me an extra 5 minutes (and to say I was heaving would be generous) but it's the first time I've gone up them since the break. Progress feels awesome :)

Did you all have a good weekend? I finally got around to listing some things on ebay (which always feels like a huge accomplishment because it takes so much time) and D took me out for a pre-birthday dinner on Saturday night. Gotta love Red Robin's free birthday burgers!

Tonight D invited some of his coworkers out for a happy hour with us and I wanted to wear something that made me feel good. This time I paired it with some huge earrings that my aunt gave me and of course, my wonderful wide calf boots. I've felt fabulous all day. It's too bad all clothing doesn't inspire such confidence.

Actually, I think the color of this skirt is aptly called "pool felt". I've never seen a more accurate color description. The boyfriend said that this is my "joker" outfit. Something to do with the purple and green I suspect. I'm not much for wool (dry cleaning annoys me) but I couldn't resist the color (or the price at the time). Note-buy wool in the summer. I got one in red too. It's too bad they wrinkle the minute I even think about wearing them. :)

Everybody, Everywhere: Sequins & Sparkles

To me, festive holiday clothing=sequins (or sparkles. The shinier the better). I was thinking about doing a holiday themed clothes week for the rest of the week (and maybe next week if I'm feeling craaaazy) but I came to the sad realization that I only own three shirts with sequins. And there was no way I was wearing a tank top considering it was 25 degrees when I clonked out of the house. So I went with this "it looks like a tank but there's a sweater involved" one piece I bought in Florida many moons ago. You can't really see the sequins, but I promise the front is decked out in sequin glory.

I'm really into the drapey blouse tops at the moment. So when I saw this top at TJ Maxx I couldn't resist bringing it home. Plus I figured I couldn't go wrong with metallic sparkle. Flash forward to me trying it on with a pencil skirt for the boyfriend. He gave it a thumbs down. Then this morning I decided pants would be easier to deal with than a skirt, so I threw on the top and went to work. When D saw me this afternoon his opinion on the top hadn't changed. I don't think it makes me look any wider, but I do think it makes my arms look like they were cut in a tragic lumber accident or something. But oh well, I still like the top. Now I'll just have to walk around sucking in my larger than normal gut for the rest of the day :)

How was your weekend? We are in the process of putting up our very first (fake) x-mas tree. We ran out of garland about halfway down the tree, and then we realized we didn't have any ornament hooks. It made me really miss my grandmother (she would have tons of everything). Oh and we don't have a tree topper so I threw a stuffed reindeer animal on top. Hopefully it won't catch fire. And my cat seems to think that the tree is a giant 6.5 foot food-fest.

But on the bright side I went to my Aunt's house and she let me go through some of her costume jewelry that she didn't want anymore. I got tons of earrings and a few rings that I can't wait to wear. In fact the ring I forgot to take a close-up of today and my earrings are both from her stash.

Another ~~Monday~~ Tuesday (I apparently missed the memo on how workdays operate), another pair of new boots. Hah I kid, I kid (maybe). Though these are new boots, and I'm so damn pleased with them that I wanted to share the details. They're from Sofft (style Casoria) and they're currently on sale at Nordstrom for $99.90. Zappos has them in brown for $119.95 here. Yes, that's pricey even on sale, but they're real leather (soft!), they're extremely comfortable, stylish, and best of all fit my wide calves right out of the box! I swear I have to get every pair of boots stretched at the cobblers (they know me on a first name basis now). The description says that the calves are 13" but that is a flat out lie. My 16" calves fit into a size 9 perfectly. And if your calves are larger the side of the boot has elastic goring that will allow another inch or two of stretchy goodness, if not more. Love love looooooooove these boots. I stalked the brown pair online at Nordstrom and I finally nabbed what I'm telling myself is the last pair in Nordstrom world and I can't wait to wear those too. Of course now I have to get rid of 2 pairs of shoes, but I'll deal with that later.

Am I wearing other clothes? Oh yeah...This dress has been worn numerous times, although I finally tied it in the back like it was originally intended. I don't know why I hesitate to do that. Maybe because maternity dresses often tie in the back, and I don't want to get asked how far along I am. Speaking of which, this afternoon two women were talking in the kitchen about how many pounds should be gained during pregnancy. The one woman was very concerned asking "5 lbs...that's what I've gained so far oh do you think that's too much? I just don't know" while rubbing her stomach and the other lady was "oh that's fine yes 5 lbs is reasonable" and then they both turned to me to get my input and I rrealllly wanted to tell them that A) 5 lbs is NOTHING, B) having said that I am not the best person to consult on pregnancy issues and C) I'm currently pregnant with a 5 lb cheeto bacon food baby, but I refrained from any and all comments. I can't deny my amusement though. I mean she was so concernicus about the whole thing.

Eloquii review and an outfit post

Good afternoon everyone,

Are you happy it's the end of the week? I sure am, even with my day off yesterday. I took a mental health day (it seems I've needed more of those lately) and I tried to relax a little. Today I wanted to dress nicely because I'm going out for a happy hour with some friends I haven't seen since before I broke my leg. I've sort of removed myself from everyone because I feel like I've just been too depressing to be around, but I think I'm ready to get back and be a little more social. And what better way to be social than with drinks and mexican food?

In the absence of social outings I've been doing my fair share of shopping (heck even if I went out more I'd still shop) and one place that caught my eye was Eloquii. Eloquii is The Limited's plus size range, and from what I've read they're fairly new. I have had my eye on these two things and when they went on sale for 50% off I decided to try them out.**

So, the wrapping is pretty cute. Then again I like bright green tissue paper. The invoice came in a nice Eloquii envelope along with a note thanking me for my purchase.

I ended up buying a red dress and a drape neck top. Here's what they look like on a beautiful model.

As you can see from the photo below (please ignore my compression socks; good for broken leg swelling but bad for photo ops), the dress is too tight. After consulting the size chart I went for a 14/16 on both and I really needed another size up. Also, the dress has a black elastic band that wasn't in the description, and in the photos the band is conveniently covered up with an obi belt (which is available for purchase separately). The dress is 100% polyester, but for some reason smelled like dead fish. The cowl neck top stretched across the chest in an unflattering manner and I just couldn't get myself to take a photo. I thought about exchanging the top for a bigger size but in the end I decided to just return it. It didn't help that the fabric accentuated my curves in a way that resembled a spare tire. If something really catches my interest in the future I might try Eloquii out again. If you're ordering I would say to size up if you're unsure, but as far as my personal taste goes I'll be returning both items.

Good morning everyone,

How was your holiday? We ate with local family members and had a nice relaxing evening. I went to work on Friday (it's the best day to work) and only ran into one other person the whole time. I finally completed some background tasks but it definitely wasn't a photo day since I just wore jeans and a shirt.

Speaking of photos, I still haven't found a good time or place to take outfit pics. It's (usually) dark in the morning and evening by the time I leave and the apartment is still very white (we have to hang stuff up on the walls), which doesn't make for a good photo. :)

Last night I decided to get "creative" with my nail polish. After reading tons of good reviews about a particular top coat that dries nails quickly, I decided to buy it and try my luck. I have zero patience when it comes to painting my nails and if I screw one up I end up scrapping the whole thing. So I had already painted them with a dark purple and I had a crazy purple glitter one that I wanted to try out. I freehanded it and covered the tips with the glitter. I think I like how it turned out, but my right hand looks a lot worse since I'm not left-handed.

Good afternoon everyone,

This outfit is so comfy I might just wear it to Thanksgiving dinner. When this dress was on the Lane Bryant site it sold out quickly, and I looked in all of the local stores but no one had it. One of the sales associates even had the dress on but she said she got the only one that was in their store. My solution? Set up an ebay alert! It took a few months but I finally saw the dress listed in my size during my broken leg "vacation" and I won it for a nice $20. Not bad eh?

In shoe news I did some rearranging and put all of my "wearable" boots and flats in one place. Anything with a heel got stuffed out of sight in my closet. Katy Kat decided a box of shoes was just what she needed to use as a stool and now she won't leave the room!

Well, so much for that big meeting today. Last night I felt an awful head cold coming on and after getting very little sleep last night I woke up this morning feeling like my throat was on fire and my head was about to explode. I think it's just a cold but we all know what a hassle a simple cold can be.

So anyway, I went in this morning to hand out some papers and tell my superiors I would be leaving to get back in bed. Fortunately most of my meeting work was done behind the scenes so I didn't really need to be present the whole time. Plus my coworkers are a little weird about sick people coming to work (and with good reason I suppose; who wants to spread germs) so they let me go home. Thank goodness for awesome coworkers eh?

This weekend we're hoping to put together our last piece of Ikea furniture (I'm very bad at that type of thing) and if my taste buds are working we might drive up to Frederick to get some barbeque food. But right now I'm focused on chicken soup and cough drops. Glamorous eh?

I feel like I've said this a lot, but for a time I wasn't a skirt person. They always turned around or rode up while I was walking, and the slit in the back made me feel too exposed. Somewhere along the line my feelings changed and now I have amassed quite a few skirts. I just need a nice mustard yellow pencil skirt. Any suggestions on where to find one?

In broken leg news, this is the first time I've been able to stuff my swollen leg into these leather boots. Last time I tried I couldn't even get my foot in. It's a tight squeeze but I'm happy to have them on. Now we'll just have to see if I can take them off when I get home :)

Good morning everyone,

Moving is such a hassle! We're finally unpacked and we're slowly trying to arrange everything. I didn't think it would be that hard to go from a large house to a small condo, but I underestimated my feelings on the matter (and the size of my wardrobe, hah). For some background (and an attempt to justify having too much stuff) I lived with my grandmother for 5 years. In that time I was fortunate enough to experience a steady stream of income and plenty of space to stash things. In our condo there is no stashing space :) Not that I'm complaining. Hopefully I will successfully whittle down my wardrobe to the things that I love and I'll sell/donate/ebay the rest. This should only take a couple of years :)

So until my closet is more organized I've just been pulling out simple clothing. Of course I haven't really been documenting what I've been wearing for the past two weeks. I'll try to jump back on the blog wagon soon :)

Did you all have a good weekend? We had a big day Saturday. First we went to Ikea (neither of us had ever been) and that was probably a mistake for someone recovering from a broken leg. I was completely exhausted by the time we made our way out of the store. I didn't think it was so big! It was like a freakin' museum. Then after Ikea we met up with my newly married best friend and her husband in Baltimore for a nice dinner. She got married in Tampa (we used to live near one another in south Florida) and I had to give up my maid of honor duties because of everything that's happened over the past few months. So this was the first time I had seen her since she got married. She's living in PA with her husband, and this is the closest we've been since we lived together in college. I've gotta admit I'm pretty excited.

Hi everyone,

Holy batman am I happy that it's the end of the week. I'm taking off two days next week to move and go to the dentist (bleck) but I'm looking forward to being unchained from the good 'ol desk. I'm also anxious to figure out where to take photos in the new place :) I'm thinking the balcony would be an obvious choice. It helps that it's the one place that doesn't have clutter everywhere at the moment :)

I just have to take a moment to talk about how awesome these $6 leggings are to me. I got them at Forever 21 (online via their plus size line) and I just figured I'd wear them as tights with boots or something. They're surprisingly comfortable and haven't stretched out (yet). I'm sad to say I was less successful in the shoe department this morning. When I went to put on my leather boots I couldn't fit my fat swollen ankle into them (it's raining so I didn't want to wear the suede ones). So I had to go with flats because the rest of my shoes are packed up already. And my leg is aching something fierce today! I think it's the cooler weather combined with the rain. I did manage to drive to work again though, which makes me very happy.

Oh, and here is a close up with the new Nars orgasm blush. I'm not sure why I look all shiny. It doesn't look as colorful in person (I think). What blush do you all use?

It wasn't until I started boxing up all my clothes that I realized how many leopard print dresses I own. I think this might be the 5th one! I bought this at Ann Taylor Loft in April or May and totally forgot about it. When I saw it crammed in my closet I was pleasantly surprised. Don't you love it when that happens? Or maybe everyone else has super organized closets. :)

Completely unrelated, but I tried Nars blush for the first time today. Sephora is having their friends & family discount so I figured I'd finally try it out. It got the boyfriend stamp of approval, but I'm not totally sold on it. I think I'm just not used to wearing blush. We'll give it a week and see if I change my mind.

My doctor visit went well last week. She gave me an ankle brace/splint to start wearing instead of the bulky boot, but I haven't been able to find a pair of shoes that can fit my swollen ankle plus the brace. So I brought the walking boot with me to work just in case I need it. But I limped in with two actual shoes (and my crutch)! I figure since I'm sitting most of the day (with my leg propped up and iced) getting into my office without any support wouldn't hurt it too much. Now my next appointment isn't until December and there's a chance that it will be my last visit. Woohoo!!!! I can't wait to put this whole thing behind me.

Before I broke my leg made a few orders with Talbots during their Red Hanger sale. Talbots is completely new to me. I always lumped it with places like Chico's-more for the mature older woman. But in the last year or two Talbots has revamped their style and I'm loving waaay too many things. So when they had their extra 50% off Red Hanger sale I decided to try them out. I bought this dress in both colors (navy stripe and the brown stripe pictured here), and then in a solid dark green and a solid navy. You all know I'm a sucker for a dress with pockets :) And at $30, it was a steal! During the summer I had planned to wear it with metallic sandals and a light belt, but since I missed out on that I decided to wear it with boots and a heavier belt instead. Good thing I have these boots in 3 colors (yes, I have issues).

I had a tough time picking an outfit last night. I was so damn tired that I just couldn't think of anything so I decided to wear the same boot/necklace/belt combo I've been wearing. Sometimes easy is just better. I did add a cute multicolored scarab bracelet and a pair of gold Greek earrings that I inherited from my grandmother. I've been trying to wear at least one piece of her jewelry every day. It makes me feel like she's still close, somehow.

So back to the dress....I actually own this dress in two different sizes. I have one in my "sell on ebay" pile. While my mom was helping us move stuff to the apartment she came across the smaller dress and tried it on. I thought she looked stunning, but she decided the sleeve length was too long for the Florida heat and the deep v-neck was too much for someone of her age. When I told her she could wear a tank under it she just laughed at the idea of layering in Florida. I lived there for most of my life and I wore tanks under v-necks in the heat. But oh well. Have I mentioned that I have at least 5 trash bags of things to sell on ebay? I'm going to be busy once we finally get settled in to our new place.

How was your weekend? We've managed to move some more stuff into our new place but I feel like I haven't made much of a dent with the stuff in my room. I did manage to pack up all of my skirts (two whole boxes!) so at least that's been done. I really have to tackle my monster shoe collection though. This would be so much easier if I could drive (and carry boxes up stairs, hah).

Speaking of shoes, I figured I'd wear these boots since they sort of match my walking boot better than a pair of flats. If you've had enough to drink and/or have vision difficulties it could even pass for the same shoes! Ok, maybe not. I can't wait until I can walk without this bulky thing. Hopefully that's what I'll be told at my next checkup on Friday.

Hi all,

What a long week! I hope to make it through at least 3 days of in-office work next week. I'm thankful for having the option of working at home, but I would really rather be at the office. It's too upsetting to be alone in a house where I'm constantly looking for someone I'm not going to find. I mean, I don't believe in ghosts or spirits, but I feel like there's something or someone missing while I'm in my grandmother's house. I'll be thankful when we're finally moved in to our new place (November 1!) Maybe then I can start to really get over everything.

Moving on-I decided to straighten my hair and of course it was raining this morning. Thankfully it had quieted down by the time we got to work. I had my hair cut right before returning to work this week and the stylist thinned out my hair a lot, which allowed me to wear it back with just a bobby pin and a barrette.

I was so sore after my first day of work that I decided to work from home yesterday and tomorrow. But today I actually had to get dressed. First day back at work...

Hi all,

I'm about halfway through my first day back at work and I am exhausted! Everyone has been incredibly nice and accommodating so far. My secretary keeps stopping by to see if I need her to walk anywhere for me, and I've talked to more people today than I have during my whole 4 year career here. Apparently my dress was a hit as well. I'm not sure what they were expecting me to wear (pajamas maybe) but someone came down just to see the fabulous dress she heard I'm wearing. I work with some strange (but kind) folks :)

These shoes weren't my first choice but somehow the ones I had in mind have already been moved to the condo. Have I mentioned that we're moving? So many things to do!

finally, an update!

Hi all,

I figured it's about time to write a leg update. I went back to the doctor on the 21st of August, and we finally saw some bone growth in the x-rays. I've been cleared to bear full weight on my bad leg, and I have to wear a cushioned boot while I'm "walking" for the next month. In reality I'm not walking as much as shuffling. I still have to use the walker in the morning because my leg muscles are so stiff (but at least they're coming back). At my best, I can shuffle around without the crutches or the walker while wearing the boot. But not for any great distance.

Some days I feel better than others, but I guess that's the case with anyone. My leg gets very sore after I do any "walking" and I can feel the screws that they put into my ankle. I know it's vain, but my legs used to be my favorite body part. Now I'm trying to deal with the fact that I'll have four very visible scars for the rest of my life.

As far as the blog goes, I plan on updating with pictures once I go back to work. Believe it or not I'm going back to work this Monday (no, we don't have off). So I'll finally have a reason to get dressed. Part of me is excited but more of me is anxious about the whole thing. Guess we'll just have to wait and see how it goes.

Hi all,

It's been a crazy week. I experienced my first earthquake (aftershocks, really), which was no fun. I was reading in bed when the house started to jump up and down. Then in my haste to throw myself from the bed into the wheelchair I used my bad leg, which caused me to see stars for a second.

So yeah, I'm still not walking. I had another appointment this past Wednesday, where I found that instead of being partial weight bearing for 2 weeks like the surgeon originally said I'll be partial weight bearing for a whole month. I'm told this is normal, but I wept like a baby at that news. I understand that my leg will get stronger as I put more weight on it, but it's not easy. It's painful, and if I put too much weight on it there is a chance that the metal rod will snap and I'll have to start all over again. Depressing thought, yes? So I go for another appointment at the end of September, where they'll hopefully tell me I can start putting my full weight on it again. Have I mentioned that it's been over a month since I've taken a real shower?

And just for icing on the cake-we're dealing with a hurricane. Thankfully we aren't directly in the path of Irene, but we're anticipating power outages, high wind gusts, and torrential rain. Normally I wouldn't be too worried (thanks Florida), but since I can't walk I'm pretty anxious to have it come and go already. Anyway, we've stocked up on the essentials, the cooler is packed, and we have our candles/flashlights/reading materials ready to go.

I feel like a bad news bear. And I won't lie-I'm depressed about the whole situation. But work is still giving me stuff to do from home, my boyfriend is being amazing, and my family has been very supportive. It could be much worse. But sometimes it's easy for me to lose sight of the better things that are going on.

Hi all,

Being stuck in bed is boring at best, so I thought I would try to give an update. First off-thanks for all the wonderful comments. This has been such an incredibly hard time to deal with, and it means a lot to me that you all take the time to stop by and read the blog.

As for an update-The crutches never worked out for me. I have zero upper body strength and negative amounts of balance and coordination. So for the first few days I was stuck in bed. But I was on so many pain killers that I'm not sure I cared much at the time. My mom ended up staying an extra week since D had to go back to work, and while she was here she found a walker that my grandmother must have gotten from one of her hospital visits. So I started using the walker and now I'm able to at least take myself over to the bathroom.

Over the past week I've been trying to stop taking any and all pain killers. Unfortunately, I had no idea what severe withdrawal symptoms come along with the Oxycodone/Percocet cocktail. After I stopped taking them I couldn't sleep, I had no appetite, I couldn't go to the bathroom, and I would wake up at night covered in sweat. Fortunately most of that seems to have subsided, though I'm still having trouble sleeping.

I go to the Dr. tomorrow and they'll be taking out the staples that cover a large portion of my right leg. As of last week the surgeon told me I'm healing perfectly. In another 2 weeks I hope to be putting partial weight on my leg, and another 2 weeks after that I hope to be walking again. I never knew a broken leg took so damn long to heal.

M work has been absolutely wonderful. I'm working part-time from home this week and maybe I'll manage a full work-week next week. Then, once I can put partial weight on my leg I'll look into getting back into the office.

As for the death of my grandmother, it hasn't really hit me. I'm sleeping in her family room (D brought down a bedframe and mattress from the second floor since I won't be able to go up the stairs any time soon), but she never really came in here, so I don't find myself looking for her very often. I think the absence of cigarette smoke is what really reminds me that something is different. She smoked one after the other, and sometimes I find myself wondering why it doesn't smell smokey all the time. But I'll definitely have some mental recovery to do once I really realize that Gammy isn't coming back.

So how about some photos? Katy Kat is completely confused by the bed being downstairs, but she jumps up with me quite often. If you're wondering about the tacky sheets, there's a sliding glass door that lets in a lot of sun so my mom covered it up with some sheets. Gammy had such great decor taste, yes? :)

And this was my view, before D moved a TV in front of me so I could play with our new Wii (we bought one right before this happened) and I'm catching up on Dollhouse via Netflix.

And finally, here I am with my parents the day of the funeral. I guess it might seem odd to take a photo on such a day, but it's rare to have us all in one place and I wanted to remember it. It really seems like it was ages ago, although today marks 2 weeks. Is it weird that it hurts to look at my former legs?

Hi all,

My grandmother passed away last Sunday, the 24th, and I've been busy trying to help with the funeral arrangements and going through all of her stuff. She woke up Saturday morning saying she didn't feel well, and when we took her to the ER the docs said she had a few hours left to live. So she was transferred to "comfort care" and passed away early Sunday morning. Even though her health has been severely declining, I didn't know it would be over so fast. In some ways it's a blessing, but then again I can't believe she's gone.

So how about the even crappier news? Her funeral was on Wednesday and after the service we were all walking to the grave site. I went over to hug someone, and when I stepped back I fell into an unmarked hole (not a grave, just a deep hole) and broke both of the bones in my bottom right leg. So I had to go to the ER (at the same hospital Gammy had just died in), only to find my insurance likes us to be treated at yet another hospital, so I had to be transferred. The doctors told me that I would need surgery to repair the bones. With the4 way that they broke, there's no guarantee that a cast would make the bones fuse back together properly. So I had the surgery late last night, and I was hoping to be discharged tonight. Of course nothing goes right or as planned in hospitals, and I'm still sitting here waiting to talk to the physician's assistant about whether or not I can go home. D has been wonderful-he's spent the night with me here since I was admitted but both of our patience is running out at this point. *le sigh*

This will of course affect the good 'ol blog. i can't put any weight on my right leg for the next 6-8 weeks so I'll be using crutches. I figure outfit photos aren't going to be a top priority any time soon. Ugh this whole week I kept saying "I can't wait until Wednesday is over" but now I just can't wait for this whole damn month to be over.

Hope ya'll are having a better week than I am.

Good afternoon ladies,

Today's work outfit is a repeat, so I figured I would show you all my more exciting weekend wear. And believe it or not, nothing is from Ann Taylor Loft! D took me out for a wonderful romantic dinner (to celebrate our 4 year anniversary) on Saturday night and my goal was "dress to impress". Unfortunately that's not my normal routine, and it was a battle not to feel totally self conscious while walking around downtown Frederick.

Anyway, I've been lusting over this floral workwear dress from ASOS, and when it went on sale I decided to try it out. I knew it would be short (it already looked short on the much-taller-than-me-model) but I thought tights might make it more appropriate. So it arrived, I tried it on, and decided to return it (how in the world did it get "work" in the description? It stuck like glue to my rear end!) Of course at that moment D walked in and rated the dress a perfect 10, so instead of being returned it ended up on me. Oh, the things we do for love. This dress will definitely be reserved for non-workwear. :)

Good evening everyone,

So today is the first time I've tried wearing my hair down in about 2 weeks, and I think it's looking much better than before. I contacted my stylist (who still doesn't understand "why this would happen") and she sent me a container of some super expensive hydrating conditioner that I've been using. I'm trying to apply it sparingly to make it last as long as possible. I also tried something new this morning-Pantene Pro-V Curly Hair Damage Repair Ampoules (a mouthful, yeah). After leaving it on for 5 minutes and rinsing it out, my hair was much softer and I was able to run a wide-tooth comb through it without cringing. So I'll keep using the salon's conditioner and the Pantene and hope for the best. If any of you have curly hair I'd suggest trying out the Pantene ampoules. They really help with the curls :) And I'm not even being paid to say that!

You know what else rocks about today? My free shoes. I won them on ebay, and they were described as brand new without any flaws. When I received them they had dings and scratches all over the heels and they had clearly been worn. To make matters worse, the one shoe is an 8.5 and the other is a 9! So the seller refunded me and let me keep the shoes.

(dah humanz is good, yes. Except for stepping on Gammy's oxygen cord. She's still alive, don't worry.)

Good evening everyone,

D is off at the ~~9:30 club~~ Black Cat seeing one of his hipster bands and I just got done running some last minute errands I wanted to finish before my mom gets here on Thursday. I can't believe we're almost to the middle of July.

I also can't believe how insanely hot is was/still is today! I'm tempted to take a third shower. Anyway, this dress was light and airy. So airy that I may have accidentally flashed some coworkers on the way out today. Oopsies. But it's all for Everybody Everywhere. And besides, I really wanted to wear this new dress. Who cares about your coworkers seeing some non-exciting undies. Did you catch the "new" part of the dress? I've been doing some crazy shopping lately. You all know I can't resist a dress with pockets. I need to get out of that habit (the shopping in general, with a pocket dress exception). It's all definitely under "retail therapy".

Long time no see! I've been having some hair issues for the past week, and it's gotten me so down that I couldn't force myself to take pictures. Apparently the highlights over processed my hair, which has resulted in it being completely unmanageable after I wash it. On top of it feeling disgusting, the only way it looks decent is when it's straightened, and I was told to stay away from anything heat-related when it comes to my hair. Ugh when I wear it down it's just a frizzy nappy mess! Have any of you ever dealt with over processed hair? Should I start sleeping with a showercap of mayo or olive oil? At this point I'm deep conditioning every other time I wash, and when I don't I'm using super hydrating shampoos and conditioners. *sigh*

How about some better news? This dress is new (well, I bought it a few weeks ago) and I absolutely love it. The shoes are also new (part of my huuuuuuuuge Talbots purchase, which I'll talk about another time), and while we're on it, the bag is new too! I saw it at Macy's and exclaimed that "elephants are the new peacocks and I love them both!" And peacocks are the new owls, and I predict that we shall see elephants everywhere over the next few months. Or maybe just here. Either way D went back into Macy's and bought Ms. Elephant Bag for me as part of our 4 year anniversary that's right around the corner. 4 years ya'll. He's good stuff :)

So hopefully I'll be around with a picture tomorrow. It's Everybody Everywear Yellow Day!

Good evening everyone,

Seeing as I only got about 4 hours of sleep last night, I have three things to note for today.

1) I'm loving these shoes. No break-in time, no rubbing, no blisters, and no tired feet. I even went out for happy hour after work and they didn't bother me once. They have wonderful padding on the foot bed and on the back where your heel hits the shoe. So nice...Good thing I ordered them in all three colors :) Added bonus-I could still walk in them after 2 margaritas.

2) I'm still loving this Ashley Stewart skirt. I always want to pair it with maroon, but I might go nuts and wear it with hot pink next time (maaaaybe).

3) In a desperate attempt to dislocate my hand from my hip while posing, I held on to my frozen yogurt. I foresee more props to keep it up.

Ok, it's past my bed time and tomorrow is going to be a long one. See you on the other side!

Ya'll...I spent 3.5 hours at the hair salon on Wednesday night. I almost fell asleep! Thank goodness I ate something late in the afternoon. But was the 3.5 hours worth it? I'm still on the fence. We ended up doing highlights and lowlights to get my hair closer to the original color, and I guess I wasn't expecting it to come out so two-toned. It reminds me of Kelly Clarkson (which isn't bad, just...different). We all know change is hard for my little brain to handle :)

Also startling-my 3 year blog-o-versary! June 21 marked 3 2 years**, and I totally forgot. In fact, I forgot last year. At least I'm being consistent. So, happy ~~three~~ two years! And while we're being honest, I still have no idea how to take a proper mirror shot. If there is such a thing...

Good afternoon everyone,

The last two work days have been rather un-blogworthy as far as outfits go. I've been slacking and picking out my outfits in the morning (I usually try them out the night before) and I haven't been sleeping well. So I've been wearing jeans and tops because my brain is incapable of putting things together at 6am. That being said I'm trying to motivate myself a little more, so last night I pulled this maxi dress and decided to call it a Target day (all of today's outfit is from there).

I'm also trying a new hair color tonight. I'm hoping to go back to my original color and possibly add some highlights. While I like having dark hair, I hate going once a month to get it colored. So keep your fingers crossed for me. Last time I tried going from dark to light hair I ended up with carrot orange! I'll have to dredge up the photos for your amusement someday.

Good evening everyone!

My goodness this week has just flown along! One of my projects has a big due date tomorrow, and my coworker is going to be out of town so it's going to be a very busy final work day for me. I plan on wearing something comfortable (but then again, when do I not want to wear something comfy?)

Today's outfit actually wasn't too high on the comfort scale. I had to keep adjusting the belt to make sure it stayed between the shirt and the skirt. And my feet were killing me by the end of the day. But I really loved the colors. And I got a great compliment from one of my seldom-seen coworkers. She asked "Do you always look so nice?" I told her I don't look so nice before 9am. :)

(This was my "coyly look behind" attempt. So many of you bloggers have mastered it. I'll just keep trying.)

If you've been reading along recently you may have noticed that I've bought a few Ashley Stewart items lately. I had never shopped there before but when I saw this skirt I thought "hhmm I'll bookmark that!" Then the very next day they had a 50% off special, so I bought it along with 2 tanks. I'm very pleased so far. :)

This dress is one of my favorites, but sadly it has two flaws. First there's the pilling and fading, which I usually try to ignore. Then there's the scoop neck. It's so low (or the straps are too long) that my bra just hangs out. So my solution was to throw on a nice purple top and call it a day. I thought about taking up the straps, but the seam under the bust would hit me too high then. What do you all do about clothing that's too low cut? Tank tops as a layering piece? A really fancy bra to show off to your coworkers? Just kidding... :)

Good afternoon everyone,

I thought I'd take a cupcake break and give today's update. It's hot as ever so I dressed for comfort. I even said "screw belting it" because that's just another piece of fabric to deal with. Actually I lied-these shoes are terribly uncomfortable. But not in the "ugh I'm roasting" sense. They just feel like you're walking on concrete with zero give and bendability. But they're cute, right? Riiiight. I parked right next to my building (I would have parked in my building if I could have) and crabstepped my way to my office, where I promptly stuffed them under my desk. Do you all stash your uncomfortable/cute shoes during the day while you're at work?

Moving on to a more comfortable subject-cupcakes. Always cupcakes. These were waiting for me this morning courtesy of the best boyfriend around. And let's be honest, it was my breakfast and lunch. Because they really are that good. I ate some apples to even out the crap food intake, but really? I don't care. At least not today. :)

Good afternoon everyone!

Believe it or not I've been taking photos, but I forget to transfer them from my home computer to my flash drive.Today however, we have evidence in hand! Not to mention a surprise haircut! But before I get into it-how was everyone's long weekend? I caught up on a lot of sleep. I was very well rested by the time Tuesday came around :)

Do you all remain "faithful" to one hair salon? I've been bouncing around since I moved up here, and I've never really been happy with where I've gone (not to mention the outrageous DC/MD salon prices). So when Groupon offered a deal at a nearby hair salon I figured I would go ahead and try it. Right after I bought the Groupon I found a different wonderful salon, and I've been debating about what to do with the Groupon ever since. Should I use it and just go to the different hair stylist, and then pretend like nothing happened when I go in to the other salon later this month? Or just lose out and let the Groupon expire? Well, obviously I used it, and in the process I think I may have found a new favorite salon.

Anyway, I told the woman that I have always wanted a bob, but I don't like having short hair and she said I should go ahead and go for it (well, not a true bob, but short hair). Which I did, and I love it! I feel so much cooler without hair on the back of my neck! Next step-shaved head! Ok, not really. but I'm super happy :)

Anyway, do you all use ebay? I've been using it on and off for about 5 years now and while the "newness" has worn off, I still get surprised about some of the great deals to be found. I mean, where else could I find a Lane Bryant shirt for $1.25? Awesome!

Good evening everyone,

Everyone seems to have an opinion about skirts. Some people love them, others hate them, and in between shorties wear them as dresses and call it a day. I used to fall squarely in the no likey camp, but lately I've been reaching for a skirt more often than pants. This crazy summer weather must be getting to me. Is it too early to admit that I'm looking forward to wearing tights in the fall? Yeah, I guess it is too early.

In other news I really need to adjust my ISO setting. Or perhaps I should learn how to use a camera in the first place :) I had a moment to take these when I went home for lunch and I didn't notice I'm so...luminescent...Yes, that's a nice word for it...Let's just focus on the nice new bag I only paid $18 for...Pretty shiny...And also ignore the wrinkled skirt. I swear this whole thing worked out better in-person :)

hark, an update!

Good afternoon everyone,

I'm not normally one for following trends (at least when it comes to food) so a place like Georgetown Cupcakes has never caught my eye. There's always a long line, their flagship store is on TLC, and that just makes it too much of a clusterf*ck for me to worry about going. But last week my friend suggested getting some dessert there, and it was my other friend's birthday the next day (and her favorite cupcakery) so I thought "eh, I'll try it and worst case-get some birthday cupcakes for the friend."

Amazeballs. That's what the cupcakes are. I'm totally a convert. It took everything in me not to eat my friend's birthday cupcakes. Fortunately their nearest location is still a decent drive away, so I'll still be visiting my local (not famous) cupcake place. :)

Good evening everyone,

I just wanted to put up yesterday and today's pictures before going to bed. I've been wearing a lot of cardigans lately. It's such a comfortable rut to fall into! The dark green cardi (from Tuesday) is past it's prime, but I refuse to get rid of it until I can find a suitable replacement. I never thought finding a dark blue/forest green cardi could be so difficult. Maybe I'll have better luck in the fall :)

So Friday I wore this fabulous Lane Bryant skirt. I actually bought this skirt a few months ago, returned it, and regretted it ever since. So I was totally thrilled when I saw it during our FL vacation. Added bonus-it was on clearance plus I got an extra 40% off!

Sunday I wore another FL find to our movie date. I've been wanting a mexican style top or dress but I couldn't justify the prices I saw on ebay/etsy. Then I saw this at Ross and snapped it up :) I paired it with the craziest heels I own, and I managed to keep myself upright during our whole date! It helps that we were seated most of the time though :)

Hi all,

I know it doesn't really matter, but this isn't what I'm wearing today. In fact, I didn't even plan on going in to work. However, I couldn't handle missing out on the floral edition of Everybody, Everywhere so this floral dress is what I wore one day during our vacation. We were at the Sawgrass Mall (it used to be the largest shopping mall in America, I think) and I insisted on taking pictures by the tacky overpriced Rainforest Cafe. I guess their prices make up for how much they paid to have small robot animals everywhere. I think I ate there once when I was a kid and thoroughly enjoyed it. :)

Good afternoon everyone!

So we got back from our week in FL yesterday afternoon and it's been a whirlwind of unpacking, socializing, and cleaning. How was everyone's weekend? Ours was a nice extension of the week-relaxing, swimming, eating, shopping. No complaints here. I even managed to get a very light tan (not that you can tell). My coworkers have all mentioned how "relaxed" I look today. I keep telling them to check back in two days :)

On a side note, I love these jeans. I've been quite surprised with Forever 21's plus size line as of late.

What do you all think of the new hair color? It came out a lot darker than I thought it would (and what's up with the weird purple tint; it looks more red in person). But I think I like it the best out of my recent coloring jobs. Of course it will fade over time :)

Good evening all,

How was Tuesday for you all? The weather here has finally started to warm up, and I much prefer 60-70 degrees as opposed to the forecast we have of 85ish throughout this week. Complain complain, I know. :)

So this black cardigan that I wore to death during the first year of the blog...I think it has to go. It's so faded. I'm tempted to try dying it, but I'm not sure it would be worth it (and I destroy things instead of fixing them half the time). Have you all ever used clothing dye?

Speaking of dye, tomorrow I'm finally going in to get my hair done (I wanted it to look nice for our FL trip) and I'm so excited about it. I'm going to go with the red/brown gloss again, and then next time I think I'll go back to my natural dark blonde color. I hate the upkeep involved with coloring hair.

Good evening everyone,

I wish I had a good reason for my long absence last week but I really don't. Just the normal wear and tear of life humming along.

For today, (at least) I'm back with a brand new pair of capris. I picked these up at TJ Maxx and I only wish they had a brown pair as well. You know me and my multiples :) The cardi is also new (yes, I might love shopping a little too much). I was washing some dishes in our communal workplace kitchen and someone I don't know very well growled at me (you know, like a "rawr" type of growl). It took me a while to figure out her noise was due to my cardigan. I thought maybe my hair had decided to shape itself into an wild lion or something.

Once again I've managed to dress myself almost head-to-toe in ATL merchandise. Makes for an easy outfit I suppose :)

I forgot to give you all an update on my coworker and her dress that she wanted to return. I know you all were just dying from the suspense. Anyway, she ended up keeping it! I found a 50% code online, but they didn't have her size available. So she went to the store and asked if they would honor their online price with the discount. She said they gave her a hard time about it but in the end she got the dress for $30. Later she modeled it for us and she looks absolutely stunning. If she actually knew about this blog I would have taken her picture for it :)

How was your weekend? I went out with my coworker on Friday night and we had a fabulous time (at least I did). We can't hang out together without going to Target, so on top of Ulta and The Loft we hit up a Target that we don't normally frequent and finished the night off with a nice dinner out. Then I hung out with my aunt all day Saturday and Sunday I finally got around to the normal things...laundry, cleaning, etc...all in all not a terrible weekend :)

D gets back from his Georgia trip tomorrow and I can't tell you all how excited I am to see him. Only 14 more hours (if the train isn't late, of course).

Good evening everyone,

Yesterday I had a lively conversation with one of my coworkers about a dress she had bought. It's a fancy dress (although I argue that it could be dressed down with a cardigan/belt) and she paid $60 for it, and now she's agonizing over whether or not she wants to return it. Normally I would tell her to return it if she was that worried about it, but she said that she felt absolutely stunning in the dress. So of course that made me change over to team "keep the dress." She's petite and nothing ever fits her right off the hanger, and the fact that this dress did makes it work the $60 to me. Also, I'm 100% sure she looks totally adorable in it.

All of this is to say that today I wore one of my very first "splurge" dresses to show her that she should totally keep the dress she bought.

I saw this dress a looooooong time ago on Vanessa's blog and despite never having heard of the brand I immediately bought the first one I saw in my size on ebay. And I don't regret it at all. Then again I've spent well over $50 on other dresses since then, but this is still my first :)

This outfit looked a lot better in person (I think) and I got quite a few compliments on it. The top and the cardi weren't bought as a set but the colors match up pretty perfectly. :) I'm glad I finally found something to pair with this gray/purple/blue cardigan :) Also, what's up with the weird part in my hair? I didn't even have it parted today! Oh well...

Good afternoon everyone,

Full disclosure: This is not what I wore today. Also, it's a dark and dreary Tuesday. These shots are from Sunday, when the weather was nicer and work was still 12 hours away. *sigh* You know what else? It's a maternity maxi. And the only babies I'm making are of the food variety. Man, I'm just full of honesty today (and uh, sorry)!

The cardi is one of the new ones I bought from Ann Taylor Loft that I mentioned last week. I wore it around all day on Sunday (even after the maxi dress shots) and I'm happy to say it's quite comfy. Then again it's hard to go wrong with a cardigan.

How's your week going? D leaves for Georgia tomorrow (he gets back next week) and I'll be sad to see him go. Maybe it will give me a chance to catch up on missed television (I'm still on the 3rd season of 30 Rock).

Good afternoon strangers,

Sorry I was gone for so long. I took photos for yesterday's outfit but I never got around to putting them up. I'm not too happy with how the outfit turned out, but I was up most of Sunday night with my grandmother because she didn't feel well, so I didn't really care about how I looked once I finally make it to work on Monday.

(See what I mean? Ugh Monday was bad)

So how was everyone's weekend? Other than the sick grandma mine was pretty good. I told her to get better timing and save her sick nights for Saturdays so we can both recover on Sunday. :) Saturday I got through most of my laundry and made a trip to The Container Store for some hanging closet bags (damn moths) and I'm slowly going through my winter wardrobe. I love that we have actual seasons up here, but I hate trying to find places to store the out-of-season clothes. Between the rubbermaids and the closet space it could take up an extra room! Well, not really, but coats can get pretty bulky, you know?

Anyway, yesterday no one needed a coat because we were at 85 degrees! Then of course today it's back to rain and cold. I can't wait for our FL trip; hopefully it will be constant reliable sun :)

Hi all,

A lot of the bloggers seem to be showing off their bare legs (and sometimes sandals) but we're getting more cold weather in the MD area. *sigh* I can't lie; I'm a bit envious. Maybe tomorrow I'll be daring (or stupid, seeing as I'm still getting over a cold) and go with bare legs regardless of the weather.

Speaking of weather (common, but so easy!) D and I booked our tickets for our week long vacation in FL! I can't tell you all how incredibly excited we are. It's all thanks to my dad ending up in the ER a couple months ago. You see, my parents haven't been on a proper vacation together in many years. And when my dad got sick, they both got to thinking about how much they'd like to take a vacation together before they're too old to enjoy one (their exact words, not mine). But, my parents have a cat (well, she used to be my cat) and she's incredibly needy. So needy that they've actually canceled plans and gone home early just because they were worried about the cat's mental well-being. So what would they do about the cat? They couldn't leave her for a whole week by herself. Enter the boy and I, and our offer to cat-sit for a week while they travel up the coast. It's perfect! A beautiful house, a pool, a jacuzzi, no 91 year old grandmother nagging, and a week to ourselves. It's hard for me to imagine. In fact, I think it's going to be our first proper vacation together.

I just hope we don't forget to feed the cat :)

Good evening all,

It feels strange to try and take my photos when it's dark (in the morning) and wait until evening to put up a post. I think I'll start taking my daily outfit photos once I get home from work. I almost forgot to put today's set up :)

This past weekend I went shopping at Forever 21 with two of my coworkers. We went to a Forever 21 in DC because it's the closest location that carries their Faith 21/Forever 21 + line. This top is one of my purchases. I also got a dress, a pair of bike shorts, and a pair of earrings. When F21 first came out with their plus size line I didn't think much of it, but they're getting better with time. Now we just need some consistent sizing :) Have any of you had good experiences with F21?

These shoes were not a good choice. I had to change out of them within the first 2 hours of being at work. Hopefully some heel pads will help with the discomfort.
